Profile Information

  • Location
Southwest Manchester, I’m usually found in either the workshop, the garden, or the cellar, but not necessarily in that order.
  • Interests
Mainly SR 00 gauge steam, early 1930's - to the end of 1947, but I'll run anything else that takes my fancy!

My other interests include model making in general, building R/C model boats, wine, painting, (the Avatar is one of mine), wine, drawing, music, wine, oh and did I mention wine!

I also enjoy swimming, particularly open water, but only when the Weather is warm(ish)! No ice breaking for me thank you very much!

  2. Good evening everyone It seems like quite a while since I’ve done an evening post, but lately it seems that there aren’t enough hours in the day and I just couldn’t seem to find the time to post, keeping up with everyone else was enough. Anyway, back to today, we had some great weather, sunshine but a bit of a cool wind. Despite that, we had a lovely walk at Dunham Massey, we saw lots of deer and plenty of birds (the feathered variety), but nothing unusual. This afternoon Charlie did come round, a bit later than usual, due to him getting his days mixed up! As usual, he continued working on his current model, whilst I built the chassis of what will be a small industrial 0-4-0 locomotive. I built the gearbox the other day and today I was able to install and test it the chassis. It ran well, but will benefit from running in, which I’ll do over the weekend. I also started modifying the body of an old Hornby loco to fit the chassis, but there’s still a bit of work to do there.

  4. Good morning everyone I’m another one who has had measles and worked in a noisy environment, I also have tinnitus, a high pitch whining in my ears, you just get used to it. It’s looking a little overcast with the odd bit of sunshine today, so we’re going to chance having a walk in the grounds of Dunham Massey, with the possibility of a drink and a slice whilst there. This afternoon Charlie is calling round, as he can’t come on Thursday, so I’ve an afternoon in the workshop to look forward too as well. Back later. Brian
  5. Good morning everyone I don’t know what happened over the weekend, but it just got away from me, it’s just Ben busy, busy ,busy here. Needless to say I’ve not even tried to catch up on what others have posted since Saturday night. I was hoping to get some more work done in the garden today, but the overnight rain might have put paid to that, I see how the ground is when I go out later. Best get in with it, back later. Brian
  6. Good morning everyone We’ve got sunshine this morning, but it’s a lot colder than of late and the wind has gone too. I’ll be shortly heading off to Vickie’s to collect Ava, who is as usual spending the day here with us. I’m not sure what is on the agenda for today, but there’s definitely no baking involved, more’s the pity. Anyway, must get going, back later. Brian

  8. Good morning everyone The weather has changed considerably, it’s now wet and grey, although the rain has stopped falling at the moment. It’s the usual Friday activities for me today, a walk to the butchers will take place shortly followed by a quick visit to the Trafford Centre for a few items that I can’t get locally. As for the afternoon, probably spent reading or something similar. At my consultation yesterday, we discussed my latest PSA result (up to 17.i from 14.76) and I was informed that no action will be taken at the moment. Once it hits 20 or more, then I’ll be put on extra medication which they hope will bring my PSA back down. My next appointment is booked for the 10 July. That’ll some come round! Back later. Brian
