Is there any plans to diverge the email listing so it includes other gauges? I have shopped with you a few times but as an N gauge modeller I cannot recall a single item in N gauge on there.

Aha! We do have an N gauge mailing list, although I will be honest our newsletters are very much demand based and our N/OO9/Garden Railway newsletters only get distribution when something juicy happens - our OO is a more structured, regular newsletter...when I get time to set them up. 😅

Sounds like you might be on the wrong list there, not a problem at all - that'll be our fault. If you drop me an email through this page I can get you swapped over to the right on. 😊

Check their opening hours - they do change - its worth being on their email list.

Good shout Chris, being a family business and holidays/special events etc (including one we have in the middle of May) usually mean we close the odd day here and there. We have a shop customer specific mailing list which we only recommend those that visit regularly or plan to visit anytime sign up to for updates on opening hours, shop only offers, etc. Anyone wishing to sign up can find that here.

They must like Pasties as my Thunderbolt set arrived in a box previously packed with them.

Indeed so did mine...the apparent delivery of mail order pasties did cause some minor domestic "interest" here is all I'll say.......

However much I love Cornish Pasties I don't think I could managed that many...

They can be traced back to the Dean Forest Railway who kindly save and flatpack those boxes for us upon delivery. Rapido were very nice and provided the box dimensions in advance so we could prepare and stock up as those flat style boxes are hard to find! The other one that's a problem for finding boxes is the EFE LSWR 3 and 4 coach packs and the Rapido APT-E...

    So...next year...

Nominate them when the request for nominations goes out.

I suspect they are peeved that no one did, or so few did they didn't make the shortlist.

Honestly, we're not peeved at all - in fact I didn't even know until I saw this thread. 😂 We're actually more flattered that this topic was created than if we were in the awards itself, so thankyou all for the kind comments. 😄 We often purposely hide away anyway, we rely on word of mouth and recommendations and only pay for very limited advertising so it's nice when we do manage to stretch ourselves into awards!

Sure, being nominated for awards is great and we're always very appreciative, but not being on the list is fine for us and just means we've got to work harder to be nominated next year! 💪

A quick question if I may.  Could some kind soul have a quick measure up and let me know how high Britomart is above the rail head.

    Thanks

Derails are doing 30% off when you buy three or more Hornby 4 and 6 wheel coaches. However should add, I was going to impulse buy a few but some of the headings don't seem to match the picture/product code so I left it to avoid any potential hassle. I've bought from derails before and they are excellent, and the free postage threshold is quite low.

    E.g https://derails.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=3881

R40119, listed as 4 wheel 3rd LNWR. The picture is a 6 wheel first LNWR, the description says 6 wheel 3rd in L&BSCR, and Google says 6 wheel 1st LNWR. I'd suspect the code and Google are correct and if it was higher on my want list I'd take the gamble.

Hi there! Whoops! Looks like the listing team got confused on their classes, thanks for letting us know! Having just audited the orders placed so far and remaining stock on the site, we believe it was only the LNWR coaches that were effected - all of the other listings were and are correct (but please let us know if you think otherwise!).

Please feel free to resume impluse purchasing... 😉

Derails notified me yesterday that my Bachmann pre-order was coming into stock with a link to pay the balance, which I did.

Two hours later it had been tested and sent for packing.

Two further hours and it had been shipped.

The post lady handed it to me at lunchtime today, just over 24 hours later.

Thanks to everyone at Derails for a very fast and efficient turnaround!

Thanks for the kind comments, as Tim alludes to both Saul and I were away at the end of this week, so I'm glad to hear the rest of the staff managed to live up to their promises... 😄

  8. For those of you with retailer orders, I'm pleased to say our delivery of coaches and NDM's has been booked in for Wednesday so we know they are shipping to retailers this week! Look out for them arriving on the shelves of your local model shop soon! :D

  9. The stock has now arrived, so they should be hitting the shelves of your local retailer very soon! :-) We're testing them all as we speak, they look wonderful! Unfortunately no photos today, apologies

  10. Yes it's VERY short notice, but after jumping through MANY, MANY hoops we're glad to announce we'll be holding a show this year, albeit a little bit smaller (and a bit cheaper too!)...

The details can be found on the poster below, and although we can't confirm the list of layouts or traders just yet, we know there will be 10 layouts and up to 5 traders attending! Adults @ £3, Children @ £2, FREE parking and full disabled access!

Sams trains is especially happy as he ordered a dcc ready version and got a sound fitted version. Might be worth checking the rest of the stock

Haha! Yes we're most perplexed about that but it seems to be a production/packing error - we've checked the other models this morning and they all check out just fine. :D We have no idea what happened...

I can’t see that offer on the website at all?

    anyone got a link

Apologies, it wasn't actually supposed to go out until next week on a co-ordinated email/social media/shop campaign but the social media man over here (me...) scheduled the wrong date and only noticed it had gone early when the orders started flooding in...

We'll get a better link up on the site this morning :D

Has anybody seen or heard any more about release dates? Are we really 4 or 5 weeks away from an APT?

In the last day or so we enquired about the prospective release dates for these models, we've been told September for all of the variants (5/7 car and coaches).

    HTH :-)

  14. Unfortunately overrunning building refurbishment has meant that today wasn't quite achievable but we'll be back open from 10am on Thursday! Going forward we will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am - 3pm and then on Saturdays from 12:30pm to 3pm. The half week allows us to continue the building refurbishment alongside opening, but as soon as we can we'll be back open on Mondays and Tuesdays as well.

As we can only admit one person at any time, pre-booking a timeslot is required and details will follow on how you can do that. We're really looking forward to having people back inside and browsing once again!

Some photos from a few minutes ago. There is some abandoned engineering “might need it one day metalwork” in the long grass at the end of this new finger of ground - to preserve that feeling for passengers at Norchard watching for a train to arrive from Lydney Junction.

Haha! I like it, very good :D

However it's all change on that part of the Norchard site right now - a small team of us has been doing a lot of work in just that area south of platform 3 over the last month to clear up as much as we can from that area and I'm pleased to say that when you are able to get back to the high-level with your camera you should be able to notice a pleasant difference to that part of the site -  and specifically that photo opportunity.... :smile_mini:

Here's a drone shot that was taken a few weeks ago, we've still got some work around the ground frame to complete (a lot of that has been moved since this shot was taken) but you can see how much our amazing volunteers managed to get moved over the few working days we held:

Sorry for the off topic, but I thought that might interest you :smile_mini:

  16. As they proceed through the testing area, it's looking good! Lovely looking models, couple of comments for those receiving them:

    • Brake rigging is super fragile, watch out when you take the model out of the box.
    • On a very small number of models the chassis keeper plate was very slightly loose, nothing to write home about, just a small screwdriver required to tighten the screws.

We're most of the way through our large batch of these (the delivery has been split, most today and then more coming tomorrow/Monday) and we have had zero mechanical failures so looking like a cracking model all round! Well done Hornby!

If you're after one, why don't you give your local model shop a call? I'm sure theirs have just arrived too! :)

  17. Good news!

If you've got one of the 20312 late DRS models on pre-order, expect a call from your local shop as they are arriving over the next couple of days! If you haven't got one on order, make sure you give them a call as these have pre-sold out at Bachmann so they probably won't hang around long....

  18. Hi SD85 - was reading down some threads and saw on that said "Lydney Show" and as the current organiser, my ears pricked up haha! I'm also a member of the FODMRC, sorry no-one has replied to your message, that is most odd.

I've sent a link to this thread to my predecessor as exhibition manager who is also here on RMWeb, I'm not sure if he may be able to shed any light as I don't have records of layouts that visited pre-2017. Hopefully we might be able to trace this for you, or at least give it our best shot! As Tony says, the organisers were very different but some of the personnel were and still are members of our club now so there may be a chance we have a record or memory somehwere.

    Dan
