Hi All. I purchased a substitute for Liquid Gravity at Warley in 2017 from a famous emporium, and I tried to fix it in position with Superglue. I left it overnight toset, but the next day I picked up the wagon and some of “ fluid Lead “ fell out.
Would someone please advise me “ What went Wrong”??? Best wishes. Kevin

Hi All. That is a very good picture of the staithes. And a hand bit of kit for loading/ unloading, but , how tall are the staithes by the length and width ? Maybe six foot high? All the best. Kevin

Hi there. I do realise that this is an old thread. And different Modellers have different opinions. But this Modeller has questions about
Triang bogies ,is there anything that can be done with them? do they have to be replaced, and what bogies would you suggest?

Hi All. I cannot see a problem with the “ huge spate of Southern items recently “ , for many years the LNER and GWR have ruled the model railway roost. The Southern May not be have been the biggest company likewise BR Southern, but the amount of passengers is alledged to be the greatest ( include the fare dodgers and it would be greater) Best wishes. Hi All. I have been reading so much about the shunters truck, I didn’t realise that it was such an old model. I have just purchased the “Recent 38-677 Old Oak Common “ shunters truck??? and was surprised how light it was, derailments here we come? But how can I keep it on track? It hasn’t got the usual wagon type weight on board. I think that it may have been better to convert another wagon ??

Hi All. A very fine looking model indeed, as usual with Bachmann . But I expected it to be heavier, as it seems a tool for derailments at the moment. I have been trying to figure out how I can add weight without messing about with it? Maybe I should have purchased a Hornby version?? They might be “ Clunkier and heavier?” without the bother of adding weight? Best wishes. Kevin

Hi All. This is a very good idea, after a dodgy start I got ( with a bit of assistance ) it working. But then disaster struck. The brakevan as supplied by Dave toppled off the baseboard , crash bang wallop, bits flying everywhere . Not only the body and chassis, it was like an explosion the van ends “Splintered into several pieces” all over the floor, I thought that I could use one of my Queen Mary brakevans? But couldn’t bear to hack one about to fit the roller. But I did notice on the webpage , a modern image EWS wagon that would take the kit (providing my one is suitable ) can anyone of you experienced Modellers please advise me on whether a Bachmann EWS MTA open box wagon is the wagon illustrated on the webpage ? Or is there a better alternative. Best wishes. Kevin

Hi All. Fitting Kadee to NEM pockets is all very well? apart from older stock which is Pre NEM pocket. That's when the problems occur..
Wagons are easier than carriages most of the time, okay I could go out and buy newer stock? But the stock I am interested in is no longer built new i.e. the Hornby "Bogie B Passenger Brake" ot the "Transfesa fruit van", and kits? Forget about them, I have purchased a Ratio Bogie B, but the bogies are so fiddly and don't have a NEM pocket. If I did N gauge ? Bachmann do a Bogie B, I had asked about doing one in OO? No chance " our competitors have already made one". But I digress. I am getting away from the thread,/background information If anyone can help? Please advise. Kevin

The frame and buffer beam is plastic, not metal and can often be found to be distorted due to poor reassembly when it has been taken apart at some point. The M7 is probably one of the most complicated chassis and body models Hornby have ever produced with a mind boggling number of small parts beneath the running plate which I have found out having rebuilt quite a few second hand demics of my own over recent years.
The metal is the main chassis block and in eight or so years of handling them I have yet to come across any matzak rot in any yet.
Hi John. You didn't mention the name of the retailer. He must at least owe you for that? If he reads RMWeb. KevinThanks; I didn't actually check what material the frame was made of. Perhaps being told that 'it has been in the display cabinet for a while' should have thrown up a warning signal. Has the shop's cabinet been in full sun, I wonder? Could that have distorted the plastic?

Hi All. I have seen a YouTube video ( or two) on wiring a programme track using a DPDT centre off toggle switch , and I followed this idea. And it has been claimed that testing a Decoder wired Loco on the programme track first
My question is "How is this track less likely to cause a Decoder to fry " as the same power is going to both sets of contacts.

Hi There Rob. Terrific work way too ambitious for me, considering that Hornby made Smokey Joe as an 0-4-0 you really did a good job.
Does that mean that the original body of The loco was too long? or whatever? Kevin

Hi All. I had all my point switches wired correctly? But when a Loco reached a set of points there was a Click, and the Powercab screen
Flashed in just the same fashion. Literally, after months of faffing around with the wiring I discovered that one of the switches was mounted the wrong way round. Now it was straightforward , desolder, remove, turn the switch around, and start again. Sorted, a piece of cake.
Everything works now. Kevin

When testing a Hornby Pug, I forgot how fast it was, and demolished a Peco rail built buffer stop. I admit tha it isn't supposed to work like that, but accidents do happen when you least expect them. Maybe I should be more careful ? Kevin

Hi Jukebox. I have just been reading, how a simple derailment can easily "fry Decoders" , even when one has got their NCE Powercab wire up correctly with cut out devices, DOH , it never even occurred to me, that things could go so wrong, so quickly. Kevin

A welcome addition for SR fans but I do hope they do a better job of making it DCC-ready than they did with the M7. Trouble is, Hornby don't have a 6-pin decoder which is what this model really needs. Fitting a 6-pin decoder to Bachmann's E4 was a doddle compared to fitting anything to the M7 ....
Hi There. I didn't have any trouble fitting a Decoder to my M7. The trouble came from the front tension lock coupling , causing the loco to redrail when going over points. Passed Driver

Stunning job, I was told that it was impossible to get a good conversion out of " Triang Clerestory Coaches" well unless I really do need new reading glasses? It looks good from here. I bought some off eBay , and when I read the criticsm I began looking for new uses for Clerestory coaches, but you have done a very good job. KevDo you mean something like this. The furthest coach is a Triang brake with a Roxey Mouldings roof. The middle is the compartment section of a brake joined to part of the first class coach, I must see where the missing 1 went.The nearest is a brake with an extended guard section taken from the bit left over from the composite conversion. Rooves are Roxey Mouldings, bogies are MK1 with the tie bar removed. Not sure where the ventilators came from. They don't look bad behind a T9 although the original short brake really needs extending to match the other.

Hi Howard. I have been reading this thread, but I must have missed previous threads? If this is anything to go by , you are a champion.
I drove London Underground trains( some may say that I only changed ends and pointed them?). I don't know if you have considered
"Arcing" when the shoes(imaginary or not) cross the ends of the positive rails, of course you do not need shoes, you can use "eletrickery"
A simple magnet attached to the leading bogie and a reed switch concealed near to the end of the positive rail, but of course that is assuming you run your trains in the dark, at least for this show. I cannot remember what it is called exactly, but, it will IMHO work.

Hi All. I recently emailed Hornby the Bogiie B Van, customer care ? I also emailed about the LSWR livery M7, and said that it would be nice to have a rake of coaches to run with it..
Their reply put me in my place! Apparently the LSWR coaching stock idea doesn't appeal to them, as only current stock sells??
Steam Locos aren't exactly current, unless it is a preservation railway. But of course they are hoping to sell to collectors to keep in the packing, maybe to resell on eBay at a premium or display in a cabinet never to pull a rake of coaches, and it has been suggested that they " cannot pull the skin off a rice pudding " though I haven't tried that. "Roxey mouldings" do some kits that may be useful to you.

successfull ? I will give it a go but even if I do a good paint job? that still leaves the lining to do. Is there a simple way
To line a LSWR coach that looks good? I always like the projects on RMWeb , but in this instance I'm no sure if I could do a good
