  1. My thoughts exactly. I was thinking of a flat-roofed building of one or two storeys, the idea being that the main machinery is down there by (or above) the office. If I can find a suitable figure, it would be fun to have a goblin up the tower performing maintenance. A fellow Discworld fan said that she thinks I'm taking all this way more seriously than I should be, but meh, Rule 1.

    I also considered a concept, which I haven't entirely abandoned, of having a phone box with a set of semaphore shutters on top. I don't think any such thing appears in the books, but with semaphore modems showing up in the Science of Discworld and mobile semaphores being described as fashionable in the Thieves' Guild Yearbook, I don't think it would be too out of place.

    I did think about that, but last time the neighbours complained, and of course then there's the smell.

  2. Still here. But I've been working on other modelling projects (other than buildings) including editing and producing the NGS Journal. I will be getting back to some more structures, probably in the new year, and including producing resin castings for them where there are lots of repetitive detail.

    Thanks for reply.  Look forward to your return.

    Have a good Christmas.

    Regards, Chris.

  3. And here's a pic of that rather bright lairy colour scheme. Hopefully it will tone down in to a more realistic look;

    Hi grahame.  Have followed your amazing buildings from the first. I would like to pre-order a copy of your book on model building techniques. Yes, I know you haven't done it yet, but am sure you must. So please put me first.

    Regards, Chris.

  4. Hello  : I am trying to figure out a small test build before attempting a small end to end shunting layout.

        Dull question time. If I put a station building onto a platform. What do I do at the back? Is a roadway and scenery built up to platform height or do I build steps down? What ideas or advice could you give? Working in OO, Board approx. 70'' X 11''.

      Thanks, Chris.

  5. Hi,  have only just come across this thread. I have three Slater's kits, bought on eBay over ten years ago. None of them have the instructions. Being a relative newbie there is no way I can attempt a build without them.

     Could anyone help? Am quite willing to give my email address if required.  Many thanks in advance.

     Kits are all 4mm.  Dean non-corridor brake third (Ref. 4C015)    GWR clerestory all third (Ref 4C08)   &   GWR clerestory 1st / 3rd composite.

    Regards,

    Chris.

  6. Many years ago I acquired three Slater's coach kits from a certain auction site. Having only recently decided to attempt building one, I find that no construction details was in any of them. Would anyone have a copy I could buy or borrow? Have asked Cooper Craft who now have the Slater's range, but no reply.
