  1. I don't know if this is the right topic area, it changed since I last posted.

as we all know there is mazak issues with the motor mounts on these and I have changed mine out a couple of years back. But now one of my R3016 has now got in the motor saddle. I have attached some pictures for your veiwing. I had not used it for a year or so, and found that it  didn't work.  I opened it up and found the swelling of the mazak had bent the motor casing enough the dislodge the magnet inside  the motor.

So I guess I'm going to think for a bit on the repair of this one, as well as getting replacement motor.

  2. Just an update Well after a break in the Canadian cold I Was able to get in to the shed and fit the king motor to the 8f. It fitted no issue. The only issue I had was at crawl speed it would judder. After going back and forth making sure I had not missed anything obvious I had a thought for that the magnet in the motor was too strong. So I was able to remove and swap It with the original one from the defective motor. Hey presto it works as good as new.

  3. Thanks for your replys. I talked to Hornby on the phone a week ago and he said they don't for see any stock coming in the future. I'm going to try a king motor. Will let you all know how it goes. I have a dead king. But I know the motor is still good.

  4. Obviously I am sympathetic but your words did raise a laugh. Do you know what 'went bang' - circuit board or motor? In either case it should be repairable either on the warranty or at cost.

The small PCB board is very scorched and is missing an electronic component and the resistor between the he motor terminals the very black. And two LEDs on the cab end with the short harness are black.

I don't know if I'm going to look at it anymore and spend more money on a loco that shouldn't have these issues in the day and age of technology. I'm just going to get the old Heljan one out again and put the new set of replacement wheels on which I found last weekend.
