  1. At Blea Moor, through, at Rise Hill, over. But the photos I'm looking at are of different date - 1960s, 1913 respectively. What's less clear is what happened at viaducts. Ref. Anderson & Fox, Stations and Structures of the Settle and Carlisle Railway (OPC, 1986). For the transition at the northern end of Blea Moor tunnel, see Plate 55.

    I've looked at my A&F book and plates 55 (and 54) do show the pole route ending at the Northern end of Blea Moor Tunnel. I understand the wires are then routed into wooden trunking through the tunnel. I'm still looking for a more detailed picture of how that transition from pole to wooden troughing is achieved.

     

    My layout has a tunnel at each end, so I might look to have one tunnel with a pole route over the top and the other tunnel with a pole route through the tunnel....best of both worlds!
