  1. Hi All,

Since our last exhibition, a lot has happened!
We are now proud to let you know that the Walton-on-Thames Model Railway Exhibition and Transport Show is being organised by the newly formed Walton-on-Thames Travel and Model Enthusiasts Society, however, the team is the same as before and we welcome back to seeing the old familiar faces at our brand new venue on Saturday 15th August 2020!

As you may remember, the exhibition was started 5 years ago as the Hersham Train Exhibition, then got renamed to the Walton-on-Thames Model Railway Exhibition. Since the last show, we have secured a new (much larger venue!) as previously and we are expecting a lot more exhibits (including a bigger range, not just model railways especially).

It would be our pleasure to welcome old faces that has visited the exhibition before, and for more information please see our brand new website (www.waltonmre.co.uk) or if you are interested to find out more about the society, please see www.wottmes.co.uk.

  5. Hi All,

I am looking for a layout (again as the replacement layout had to pull out as well) for the Walton on Thames Model Railway Exhibition on Sat 29th September 2018 (address is All Saints Church Hall, Queens Road, Hersham, Walton on Thames, KT12 5LU, Surrey). It's a lovely exhibition with exhibitors coming from Surrey, Hampshire, Kent, Berkshire, Hertfordshire & Oxfordshire. All the exhibitors have enjoyed it in the past!

The total footprint for the area is 16 feet x 5 feet. Ideally, I would like it to be N gauge, however I am open to other gauges. (First layout cancelled due to an operation a few days before our exhibition).

Unfortunately, we can't pay for any vehicle hire, however we are happy to pay for your travel costs, and you will get lunch (and tea/coffee throughout the day).

If anyone can help, please let me know ASAP!

    Thanks!

    Gellért (Exhibition Manager)

  7. I’ve never really considered who’s hosting exhibitions I visit. Does that make me a bad person?! I choose each one on merit!

I don't think many people do. As long as the show is well organised, and safe in all aspects, it shouldn't matter in my opinion.

At the rate things are going, half of the RMWeb members in the South East are going to show up!

No such thing as bad publicity....

Well they say that all publicity is good, and word of mouth is the best however don't think that it applies in this case... especially that it wasnt him that started this thread.

Taking on the publicity angle, I very rarely visit the UKModelShops website anymore (very dated looking and poor design) and have seen no posters or other advertising in the area whatsoever for the Arundel show, the first I knew of it was this here thread on RMWeb!

UKMSD is very old looking, however has a lot of info on it! When looking at exhibitions coming up, I did see the Arundel exhibition being advertised I think...

  8. Gellert,

It might not be a bad idea to advise people that a Food Hygiene Certificate and an Insurance Certificate will be available for inspection. And that you have no links with a certain Dakota Dibben (briefly of this parish).

Sorry, I won't be with you - setting up an exhibition in Birmingham.

    Bill

    Hi Bill!

Yes - I have just read the "short" forum about the Arundel exhibition.

Just to make some points clear - every exhibition we pay for the exhibitor's full expense (however much we have made, so if we have had 2 visitors, we will stay pay for their expenses -- I have the receipts from last year that were signed by me and the exhibitor that they have got their money (which was the same as what they put down in the booking form), if anyone requests this, this can be shown or I can send you a picture over email).

There will be valid insurance that can be viewed at any time - just ask any of the stewards and they will be able to show you, or direct yourself towards me so I can show you.

Also, this goes for a Food Hygiene Certificate which can be viewed if requested.

There is plenty of space in the car park at the actual hall, however we will also have an overflow car park like last year (both car parks are free of charge for visitors).

And last but not least, some of the money will be going to charity (Railway Children (hence why all the stewards will be wearing Railway Children tshirts) - last year's certificate that we donated can be viewed if requested), and the rest of the money is put aside to organise the next year's exhibition - meaning that I don't get any personal finance out of it, I just do it because I love the hobby and people requested the exhibition since there isn't an exhibition in Elmbridge.

If anyone has any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me! You can either get in touch with the generic email (info@waltonmodelrailwayexhibition.co.uk), or my personal exhibition one (gkiss@waltonmodelrailwayexhibition.co.uk -- due to less spam on this email, you will get a quicker response), or via phone (07763438150 (I may not be able to pick up but if you leave me a VoiceMail or a text message, I will certainly call back)).

    Kind regards,

    Gellért Kiss

PS: I have no links to Dakota Dibben, and he isn't exhibiting at our exhibition due to the negative publicity he brings.

EDIT: I also have a fresh first aid certificate (was renewed May 2018), which isn't a legal requirement, however is advised -- so all volunteers, exhibitors and visitors will be safe :)
