  1. Looking forward to the show....
  2. I am installing DCC Concepts dc point motors on my layout. All is good but they constantly make a humming sound. Is this normal? Concerned motor in straining and will burn out. Advice welcome
  3. Forgive such a simple question being new to 32mm gauge. I am looking to buy some Binnie Engineering wheels on 3mm axles and am looking for a source of inside bearings. Is anyone able to point me to a supplier? Gee Vee

  5. I originally hoped to do the conversion using the EMGS shouldered axles but found the length of the shoulder was too short for this particular application so when the wheels were pushed on they were too wide to gauge. I did have a mate turn a wider shoulder but for some reason couldnt get the Bachmann wheels back on without going wobbly. In the end I used Markit wheels and it was a straightforward conversion. Intending to use the Bachmann wheels I did slice off the brake rigging to pack with some slithers of plasticard and re-glue but that actually was unnecessary for the Markit wheels. Of course the conversion needs some washers to minimise side play and pickups need adjusting but no other work was required to get a smooth running loco. Hope the helps. G

Place:Bracknell Leisure Centre Address:The Bracknell Leisure Centre Bagshot Road Bracknell Berkshire RG12 9SE Additional Information Rev Peter Denny’s Buckingham to feature at expoEM 2011. We have a great show in the making. The main attraction will undoubtedly be Leighton Buzzard, part of the late Rev. Peter Denny’s Buckingham Branch that has now been acquired by Tony Gee. It is the first public showing of the layout since the Model Railway Journal Exhibition at Central Hall over 20 years ago. The rest of the layout will be housed in a purposed built building when completed and the layout transferred from Cornwall. The web site will be updated with some photographs of the team doing the work. It is admirable that members of our Society were the ones to grasp the nettle and save for posteritythis iconic layout that all members of a certain age remember from articles in the Railway Modeller all those years ago. It was the layout to emulate but was very rarely surpassed. We are also delighted to welcome the Mostyn team with the fully extended layout. Richard Oldfield and friends will be the centre-piece of a focus this year on BR blue diesel era modelling also featuring Peter Johnson’s much acclaimed Canada Road and Mike Anson’s superb Weston Road and Longcarse West by David Furmage. Of course the steam era will also be well presented with layouts featuring GWR, LMS, LSWR, BR(E) and more. Enthusiasts of industrial railways will enjoy Dan Wright’s excellent Axe Edge & Thatch Marsh Colliery so there really is something for everyone. So put the date in your diary and we’ll see you there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- expoEM 2011 Demonstrations: North West Surrey Area Group: Building a layout, rolling stock and locos for Swaynton, commissioning lost-wax castings and etchings Rasbottom Brow Area Group:Whitemetal wagon construction, modelling the underground Roy Jackson - Locos and rolling stock for Retford Geoff Kent - Modelling in plasticard John McCrea - Scenery techniques and more....
