Many thanks for your reply. First of all excuse the track plan and bit wasn't drawn to  scale. ( just fitted it into an A4 )

I will be using two loco's and DC only so your first diagram is fine.

I had been thinking I would have needed IRJ's at the two left hand points as well.

Again thanks for taking your time to respond to my question.

  2. Folks

I am building a small oo gauge shunting layout using Peco code 100 electrofrog points - 1 RH and 2 LH but need some help with the wiring of it. I am using DC gaugemaster combie  controller. I have attached a copy of the track plan so can anyone tell me where to put  the track feeds and the plastic rail joiners please.

    Many thanks

  3. Folks it been over a year since my last posting, during which I have downsized, moved twice and never did build a layout. I now find that I have time to start a layout but space is now a problem. I have a shelf that a layout could be sit ore don measuring 30" X 9" I do have some 00 gauge and a couple of Peco settrack points. Anybody have any througts for a trackplan.

  4. Hopefully I have this question in the correct section.

    All,

A work colleague of my wife knows that I am interested in model trains and asked her if I would Like a Bachmann EZ controller for free. I have no knowledge of them but would like to have a go at building a DCC layout as I have some locos DCC ready. I understand the Bachmann has very limited functions but I would be using if on an inglenook layout so is it worthwhile getting it?

As an inglenook only uses two points is there much wiring required to get it DCC ready. Do you need to use insulated rail joiners or can metal ones be used on every rail? Maybe someone could provide a simple wiring diagram to help me.

Sorry if the above questions have been asked before.

    Thanks

  5. Hi All,

Yes, I am now on this site.  I was dragged into the 21st century yesterday!!!!!!!  Ledsam Street Yard was my interpretation of a 00 layout called Balls Yard I saw in Model Trains some years ago, I've still got the article if any one is interested.  Three Holes Depot will be at Southwold.  Regards to all.

Colin welcome to RMWeb. I was one the who started the topic as I am interested in building a very simulator one to yours. I have sent you a PM.

  6. Hello Milano,

It was this layout seen on Carl Arendt's site that got me making my first micro. Years later I met Colin and his wife at the Hitchin 0 Gauge show, by that time they'd been taking it to shows for 10 years.

The track plan works something like this.

    attachicon.gifMilano.jpg

The dotted line is the backscene and behind it a fiddle track.

I've assumed 120 mm for a loco and 85 mm for a small wagon

    Cheers

    Jim

Many Many thanks for the track plan and measurements. I didn't realise that there was a hidden track as well. Hopefully I will get the baseboard made at the weekend and get some track down.

    Cheers

  7. Having taken advantage of BRM digital magazines available to download for only 99p until Monday I have started to get the ones I am missing that have micro layouts In them.

I came across a layout from May 2014 called Juniper Hill that is only 36ins long using only two points . Minimum buildings needed but lots of atmosphere

My question is what sort of shunting could take place on such a small layout using only two points facing each other as its not. a 3,2,2 inglenook. If I could understand the playability of it I would consider building something very simular.

  8. While I await a delivery of boxcars and structures from Walthers for my HO layout I have been messing about with some N scale stock I have had for years. A pine shelf 30" x 9 just about allows me to use two Peco medium radius points and some track to build a 3,2,2 inglenook layout.

Should make an interesting project. I do build layouts in the spring and summer and play with them in the Winter.
