  1. Final batch, starting with the double header going on shed for the night, with 80136 is just visible in front of the diner, and Eric is in the distance with the last train from Whitby,

and once Platform 2 was clear, Eric pulled in.

Missed the King going on shed for the night, but did see the B1 take its place,

And then slogging into Goathland with the last service train of the day. This was the last picture I took for the day as the light was about to fade.

So an excellent day of footage despite the weather. I'll be there in person with dad tomorrow, and from looking at the weather, it may just be alright. We'll have to wait and see.

  2. Missed the Whitby set leave, the double header going on shed, and the Hall leaving Grosmont and arriving at Goathland, but I did see the Southern double header leave Goathland,

    716854318_825926Goathland.jpg.79973d29fc0b2955ee81771571f0b1fd.jpg

with 6023 hanging off the end,

and the whole caboodle arriving at Grosmont 12 minutes later.

  3. Missed the A4 leaving Grosmont and arriving at Goathland, but I did see Eric waiting at Grosmont with the Whitby set while 6990 was in Platform 4,

plus the J27 and centurion heading north from Goathland,

and 6990 moving round to take the train out again.

  4. Missed the freight departure and the King going for servicing, but did catch Eric arriving from Whitby (I'm going with multiple posts due to how many screencaps I took).

Again I missed the freight arriving at Goathland, and the King leaving Grosmont, but did see the A4 go on shed,

before catching the King arriving at Goathland despite the fuzzy picture (which was just the rain on the lense),

    followed by 6990 heading north,

  5. I've also gotten a good few screencaps from today as well despite the rain, starting with the K1 at Grosmont with the freight,1136786329_62005FreightGrosmont.jpg.45a92f8f8d33a5e9af45ef85dad1fcc7.jpg

with the A4 rolling in moments later,

while 6023 was hanging off the rear.

Fair enough. Saves trying to fit a light engine move in. And speaking of the K1,

    1474568934_62005Grosmont.jpg.aa1bb8b4db8dc5cd7b5255d9ac4580fa.jpg

Yep, made sure to get a screencap of the old girl this afternoon. Now we're really ready next week's gala.

  7. Got a trio of screencaps this afternoon after seeing two of the old guard running again. First, 29's back from Peak Rail and fully repainted.

    511597206_29Grosmont.jpg.6b22ba638fdf05cb5cea3969a8751718.jpg

Second, 825's back on passenger duties after running in, and I caught it as it first left Goathland,

    557766613_825Goathland.jpg.a9e76d09566ac6c3e59a2a99d0932adf.jpg

Then arriving at Grosmont about 10 minutes later.

    600567661_825Grosmont.jpg.4dc2a9f471dd0970da5a30405df2b909.jpg

So that's another two locos ready for the gala. I've also seen pictures on 92134's Facebook and Twitter pages of it raising steam earlier this month, though I'm guessing for the gala, it might be in light steam at Grosmont if anything, but we'll see.

2253's owner has just announced that the S160 will be staying on the Moors for the Autumn Gala.

Yeah, I saw it on the NYMR's website whilst checking the gala page. Nice to see it getting some miles in here, and that was the case today when I saw it on the teak set at Grosmont.

Now is it just me, or does the loco look right in this livery? Especially when hauling the teak set.

  9. I also got a couple of screencaps of the odd bedfellows this afternoon as well. First at Grosmont while the B1 was just arriving in the distance,

    466811255_292253Grosmont.jpg.fb30a052f2f80521d1c445e682b4d19b.jpg

And then at Goathland on their way to Pickering.

    1095959086_225329Goathland.jpg.8841791020090e212744766b168fe71a.jpg

I really hope the Yankee Dan returns here once Paignton have enough engines of their own, cause I really think it belongs here, especially as I'm sure 3803 is still up for sale at Buckfastleigh, and Paignton would be a good home for it. Also, was the warming fire lit in 825 by any chance, as I did see a picture in the latest Steam Railway magazine showing it was close to being finished off.

  10. I also managed to catch the brake van rides as well, with 76079 also present prior to the 4.30 service, and eventually 2238 when it arrived as well.

    892079460_76079223808556Grosmont.jpg.28cb91a8f5079ce654c45815a1b87724.jpg

Obviously, the 08 moved over to Platform 4 so the T2 could arrive, but its presence did allow it to shunt Set 1 away for the night as well.

    893180435_7607908556Grosmont.jpg.ff9014ff20c3a8d9c54cb4b3a58f52e9.jpg

Just out of curiosity, were the brake van rides part of the 'Schools' out for summer promotion? Or was it a one day event? Either way, I hope they did well.

Nice. Now we've got both reopening train locos running again. Question is, with the gold timetable now in use, where's the best place for both of them to run?

I'd go with Wensleydale. Close enough to get to for check-ups and in case of problems, and they get 2 for the price of 1 for their summer service.

The birthday girl in her 1919 colours on test. While it's only for this year, it does look good. And yes, the J27's there as well. I'm guessing they were getting pictures of the two together.

I also noticed the 26 on a 1 coach load racing the J27 over the crossing as well.819782440_2603865894Grosmont.jpg.21f944637567d7e7471986f1fe65052e.jpg

Anyone know what the 1 coacher was for. I thought it was going on the third set or the diner at first, but ended up being wrong.

Yeah, it's Eustace Forth from the Foxfield Railway. It's been on loan since November to steam heat the Santa specials and worked a charter run in February. I was surprised to see it as well, as I thought it'd had headed home by now, but clearly I'm wrong. I also got a screencap of it just before it moved over to Platform 4

Along with a shot of it next to Eric after that had arrived. I'm wondering whether the 5's been turned north to even out tyre wear, as I know 80136 was turned for that same reason last year.

  14. Well I'm back for the first time this year, and I managed to get some screencaps of Wells myself. First when running round at Grosmont, with a blue 08 on shunting duties in Platform 4,

    1819201591_34092Grosmont1.jpg.a2c3537b4fdbea8ce69e524b899f1d7a.jpg

Then waiting to leave while the 08 shuttled through alongside,

    1116920420_3409208850.jpg.08d7ad84c30dd24824e22242e27e3f60.jpg

    Before Wells leaves for Goathland,

Arriving around 13 minutes later. And as a side note, it's smoke effects like this that led to the engine's nickname of 'The Volcano' during its mainline runs in the 80s.

Finally, the DMU was also out and about as well, still looking fresh after last year's repaint, but only a Pickering destination board this time around. Perhaps someone saw the screencaps I took of all the different destination boards it carried last year and got wise to it.

You know something, when I first saw the top picture, I thought to myself 'Is 25430 preserved' , so I looked on the VCT carriage database, and sure enough it is. Since the film was made, it was converted to a overhead electrification maintenance vehicle and then based at Romford, and in preservation, has been further converted to provide seating for the Dufftown station café at the Keith & Dufftown Railway, but at least it's still around.

I wouldn't bet on it, but that's only because the Idiot Inspector in Father Brown is Nothing but a Braindead, Good-For-Nothing Jobsworth who shouldn't even be on the show.

  16. Okay, this is my first post on this thread, and I will admit, I'm a little confused as to why 1962 is now in Carmine & Cream. Are the GCR planning to overhaul 1526 in the near future and put that into the Chocolate & Cream set, cause that's the only thing I can think of right now.

And actually thinking about it, that would make sense, as without 1962, the western set had at least 242 standard seats, and a max of 280 if the SKs and BCK don't have armrests, while the B&C set only had 234 to 248 if both 34393 and 21184 were in use, so 1962 would give that set 257 to 271 seats and balance it out a little better. And just so you know, I have checked various sources and know the TSOs have 64 seats, the SKs 48 minimum, the BCKs 18 minimum, and the BSK 24 minimum.

  17. It was just a transfer move sweetums, on the back of a train going to Grosmont for a HUGE amount of shunting tomorrow

Fair enough. Saves on a light engine movement at the end of the day as well.

Also, a few more screenshots of the gala, firstly at Goathland with the birthday girls climbing up the bank (only cause I missed them leaving Grosmont)

    Birthday Girls At Goathland

Then 80136 heading the other way,

    80136 Goathland

Before arriving at Grosmont 12 minutes later, with the Bongo waiting in Platform 4,

    80136 & B1 Grosmont

76079 was next in from Pickering after the B1 had moved to shunt the stock away,

    76079 & B1 Grosmont

With Repton at the back. Can't help but wonder how long refitting the smoke deflectors would have taken the night before.

    926 & B1 Grosmont

Next its the two southerners after 34081 had returned from servicing,

    34081 & 926

And finally, the pair preparing to double head the last train of the day. Slight change from the roster (76079 was the original pilot), but all the same, quite the formidable combo.

    926 & 34081 Grosmont

Anyone know if the visitors are staying for the War Weekend yet? I know 2857's booked to visit the East Lancs gala the week afterwards. And thinking about it, it would be easier to keep it here until then rather than it going back to Bridgnorth and then going back out again.
  18. Speaking of bongos 1264 is masquerading as 1251 Oliver Bury today

    attachicon.gif654C8404-5739-415B-B0C4-5A43C4249CD1.png

Yeah, it was running in that guise when I went on Friday as well. It's namely for next week's gala at the Great Central, Loughborough, so chances are, the owners have got it done early so they didn't have to rush. And speaking of Repton, I was surprised to see it running without its smoke deflectors when I saw it at Goathland. I know I've seen a picture of sister 'Stowe' running without them at the Bluebell, so maybe they weren't fitted with them when they were first built.

Anyway, I got some more screencaps from the gala today, firstly of the Q6 with the 1967 Blue Star (which had been fitted to the J27 on the Friday), and the Bongo,

    Q6 & B1

Then 80136 as it arrived from Pickering,

    80136 & B1

    With Eric on the back,

    Eric & B1

Then 2857 coming off shed for the 5.15 with Repton in Platform 4,

    2857 & 926

Then a full house of 34081, the B1 and Eric,

    34081, B1 & Eric

And finally 80136 back from servicing, waiting to swap places with the Bulleid.

    34081, Eric & 80136

And before I forget, had an excellent day when I went on Friday, managed to see all the locos running. The end of the day run up Goathland Bank behind 80136 definitely being the highlight. God, the noise was terrific.
  19. Also, clumsy here forgot to upload a couple of screencaps from the repositioned webcam at Goathland yesterday.

First, don't know how relevant this is, but I did catch a black and white moggy crossing the tracks at one point, and I've circled it so no-one misses it,

    Goathland Moggy

Next came the Bongo heading down the bank to Grosmont,

    1264 Goathland

Then birthday girl 2857 with the teaks at Grosmont this afternoon, and boy she looks a treat.

    2857 Grosmont

  20. I was so disgusted when the set was vandalised I took the "opportunity" to find out a bit more about them and hopefully be of a little bit of help :)

You're not the only one who was angry about what happened. I was absolutely furious when I heard about the Teak Set getting vandalised, and the little sods are lucky that I don't have a car, or I'd have been up there to give them all the hairdryer treatment, at the very least.

Anyways, I shouldn't really rant here, especially as I did notice something during this afternoon.

    37264 Breakdown Train

From the looks of it, it's clearly the breakdown crane behind the Growler, so does anyone know why it was out? Just curious more than anything really.
