    I disagree.

Surely you are buying a Hattons 66 because they have sold it as being better than those currently available? If they have identified an issue then I would rather them hold things up a few more months than ignore it.

If having one now is important to you then Hornby & Bachmann's versions are both available.

They could easily have announced that the models will not be here until February. It would probably be less work for them.

The class 66 is due in hattons in dec but if you pay the ten pounds you will getting six weeks before hope this helps

Thanks for that information Richard.  I have a spare Loksound v5 with no sound (blown amp due to my negligence) so I might try that. Will try and remap using JMRI.

I won't get sound into the 90 just yet as i'd like to hear for myself and compare Legoman with Digitrains.  On Youtube videos the Digitrains sounds good.  Edit:  Just seen that Howes also do one.  Any recommendations please folks?

i would go with legoman sound for class 90 digitrain is still being tweak I do not think howes sound for class 90 is setup for Bachmann class 90. this what i recommend but it up to you.

is the special decoder also bespoke for operating all lights functions the 90 has?   if you can run them all on a stock decoder that's good news.

Yes special decoder for class 90 is for all light functions as well as the pantograph.

yes we know, but like the DB 66's and DB 67's they sold, it's believed that a deal has been done before they were put on sale, and that FL have purchased them

The Class 90 is very, very good compared to 20 or 30 years ago and I would jolly well hope so. Is it also very good compared to the standard of many models being released today? Yes. Could it have been better? Certainly. Why do you feel we should not discuss those elements?

Sorry, but this is a discussion forum.

this is my own opinion but i think there is nothing wrong with class 90 i like the way it just is.  I don't mean don't discuss it, that came out wrong. Sorry. I just meant that it's a pretty decent loco and I can't see the need for improvements. But, of course, I forgot that this isn't going to be everyone's opinion. You're right, this is a discussion forum, I was wrong. My apologies.

That doesn't sound right! And I've seen videos of people handling it and no one has had a bogie that loose.

Well it says £40 above, I mean wow! There goes my plan of popping in my £8 Hattons jobbies

Bachmann’s cost must be all them separately fitted detail parts on the decoder...now where’s a Hornby ‘Design Clever’ one when you want it! :jester:

Maybe the next batch of 90s they’ll sort out another way, it’s asking for trouble with the general public putting out a loco that could be damaged by using standard NRM style decoders..! Price you pay for innovation I suppose, will be exciting to get it all and have it working, something we’ve only really seen lovingly scratchbuilt by Andi Dell (Dagworth) until now, how time moves on!

However with this specific need for certain decoders, it’ll make buying a secondhand Bachmann Class 90 from an exhibition a complete gambling minefield, that is for sure!

This is the way class 90 are going to be Bachmann will not change them in the next batch because of the pantagraph

    Thanks for your concerns

as the 'crowdfunder' I do hope the project will succeed with my continued support and others like me, provided we see it safely through.

I don't intend to post any further about this matter on your thread, which will take away from what sounds like it will be a good model and I hope Accurascale may consider other projects such as an 88, 81 etc. and perhaps will we see catenary a well?

Dapol have rights for class 88 so no one else can do it
