Hunslet Engine Works in 7mm Scale
Stephenwolsten replied to Andy Ross's topic in Modelling real locations
I saw your Hunslet project in the early days when it included card/foam 'mock ups' of buildings and various reference documents. I think this was in the corner of an O Gauge show but I can't remember which one - certainly several years ago. It's good to see the progress and the great attention to detail. I can't visit the Leeds Show but hope to catch up with you in the future. I also like the Laramie diorama with its good lighting, viewing height and different subject matter. -

The conductor rail and its adjacent running rail on the Liverpool Overhead Railway, August 1954. The flatbottom running rail (with rail-joints bonded to provide a return path for the traction current) is fixed to longitudinal baulks with screwclamps, the baulks themselves being secured to the rolled steel decking with pieces of angle and wooden wedges. The conductor rail, which appears to be the same section as the running rail, rests in conductor support cradles also fixed to wooden blocks on the steel decking. Owing to a lack of finance to carry out essential repairs to its supporting superstructure, the Liverpool Overhead Railway closed at the end of 1956, and was dismantled between September 1957 and January 1959. A great appeal of modelling my small part of the MDHB/LOR system is the wide range of traffic that could be seen. It doesn't get much more special than this observation coach crossing the dock road and entering the dock estate on its way to the MDHB's Riverside Station. The giant Waterloo Corn Warehouse completes the scene as the road traffic waits for the policeman to wave them on.
