Just received my N7 from Hatton's.  Looking good, as far as I can see!

Either the Canon Pixma TS6150 or the HP Office Jet Pro 6960.  The Canon is the cheaper of the two, at £80 pounds, though the more expensive of the two is only £97.

Modest speeds, no ADF, and higher than average running costs are amongst it's flaws, but crisp scans and excellent print quality on all types of documents-photos, plain text, and solid colour graphics, are all amongst it's virtues.

The HP Office, is a more impressive bit of kit.  Featuring, as it does, decent speeds, plenty of features (including an automatic document feed) , and reasonable running costs.

You pays yer money, and takes yer choice!

The term pletching comes to mind in any discussion about hedge layering.  It may be a Herefordshire term.

Or not.  It was commonly used in Herefordshire, and l don't know the origin.  Though it was used in rural Wales as well.

It consists of cutting a stem almost through, and then bending it and pinning it down with other off-cuts from the hedge, so as to form a uniform surface.  It was done in Herefordshire, almost as a matter of course.  I did a layering, though inexpertly, and l was quite satisfied with the result.

Probably isn't a Standard, as such, though rifle corps generally seemed to have bands, which represented them.  I'm not sure about that though, it seems a little short to be a Standard.

My grandfather was in the Kings Royal Rifle Corps, as a serjeant-bandsman, and l do have a photo of him at the Delhi Durbar.

It appears to be a 40 pdr, but given it's a volunteer unit they would be expected to have, perhaps not the latest equipment!

Also there doesn't appear to be any horse boxes available on this train, so l feel that '3rd class compartments for horses' might be overstating it a bit!  Unless of course it was meant to be 'tongue in cheek'!

Although l believe other Regiments wore them, including the fop in the picture above.  Probably didn't get anywhere near the serious cavalry action though............

Wonderful!  I love the Malcolm Pryce books, and have them all, to date.   Fascinating how he always seems to inveigle the spirit of Aber, and other places too!

I still have a 'Juneero', which i use often!  It's capacity to bend metal, cut lengths of wire, etc., etc., is amazing!  It's still going well after some 50 years!

Late they certainly weren't, Thrifty they certainly were, but Sluggish they certainly WEREN'T!!!

Just a little bit off-topic, but I've just received my Stirling Single, and it's superb!

Now just to find an excuse to run it on my layout Halden Road, a play on "Arcadia", which was originally called High Halden Road (a wonderful creation by Chris Nevard, when l receive it in about 5 days time!)

I realise the picture of Portsmouth & Southsea is about presenting the area in it's best possible light...........but dear me!

My memories of Portsmouth at least, were of rocks as big as cobblestones, and what a relentless difficulty one had of finding anywhere comfortable to sit!

Collected mine today from the Postal Sorting Depot, and what a beauty it is!  Clear transfers, superb paintwork, seems a pity to have to get it to a 'working engine' finish!
