I know Static grass has been done to death here on this forum, but I have a slightly different use for it.

I am building a portable routed MDF slot car (Scalextric) track that will be well detailed and modelled. I am only days away from needing to add some sort of grass affect. Being a slot car track, it is fair to say the grass is going to receive some level of abuse with crashing cars and 'Hands of God'.

I understand the reasonable use of the 'proper' static grass glue (WWS) in as much as it is conductive (better than PVA), dries quickly, and dries hard to better hold the grass vertical.  I'd only be using 2mm as a base and 4mm for a little extra depth.

So my question is, if I static grass my track and bolster it up with more thinned Basing glue once finished, does the grass have a chance of staying vertical with cars and fingers?

Box vans came in 9 and 10 foot wheel bases.

Were there any other wagons built on the same 9 and 10 foot wheel base chassis and if so, how numerous were they?

Can anybody tell me if the Peco W-606 GWR 10t Ventilated Box Van kit is 9' or 10' wheel base.

I have measured and scaled it all ways, and as far I can tell it's 9 foot.

Am I right?

I have to run the batteries on a trolly or in a wagon, so I have options for larger Ah, maybe a fresh pair of 50Ah AGM's 😍 Good to know the mobility cells are OK to use, thanks.

I ran Ride On electric locos years ago and used car batteries and leisure batteries, I always managed to kill them after a few years. 

A few years ago I bought a pair of 12v Yuasa REC36-12i AGM batteries to run some LED lights, these worked well, but sadly since covid (2 1/2 years) I've let them go so flat they are totally trashed. I got to thinking they would have been great for 5" gauge and now I've seen that there are many types of 12v batteries these days that may be better than the old car battery:-   Flooded, Sealed, VRLA, AGM, GEL, AGM, stop go, lithium etc

Does anybody know of the best 'go to' battery type now used to run 5" gauge and what sort of amp hour is common (I know it depends on many things, but what is a minimum?)

I live fairly close to Carmarthen and been on the Gwili a few times. I really like the road crossing there and how everything is all very close, crossing, siding, signal box, platform, shed etc. 

Well It seems I should have looked closer !!

The bit of railway I'd like to take inspiration from is the road crossing at the Gwili Railway, hence the Peco signal box. It's close enough to work with, and it had the box on the side all along !! ☺️

I am looking to buy a Peco LK-715 GWR signal box (O gauge), but want to mod it a little.

I have seen some signal boxes have a small wooden room jutting out the side like the Metcalfe P0330 card kit (00 gauge).

Can anybody tell me what the little room on the side is and could it have been feasible for a prototype like the Peco kit to have had one fitted?

I've got a Digitrains 6-20sec Stay Alive coming in the post.

I need to fit it to a Minerva 14 fitted with a Zimo sound decoder Mx645P22.

Can anybody tell me where the blue and black wires go from the 'SA'?

I've looked at the Zimo instructions and appart from the actual pins, it does not say where to fit the 'SA' wires, I assume there will be two solder pads?

I was told that there should/could be solder pads on the loco PCB, but I can't see any markings on the loco PCB of where the 'SA' wires would go.

The loco did not come with any instructions that cover the fitting of a Stay Alive.

I've asked this question in a few other places and got a different answer each time I've asked, so I'm very confused, don't want to blow it up!

I'm thinking of getting a Minerva 14, can anybody tell me if this loco runs well? Apart from the colour, is there anything 'wrong' with this model that may need an eye kept on it?

For some reason, I can't see most of the pictures on this topic, so can't decide for myself about the cab colour.

Yes, I was very angry about this ESU decoder for a great many reasons, none of which I'm going to explain here. Richard was offering me help in the beginning and I thought he was 'on side' and trying to help me, hence me keeping him 'in the loop'. If I had known he was going to make all my private PM's public and suggest there was something untoward going on, I'd have kept my thoughts to my self. I guess everybody here has decided their opinion about me and decided there is not two sides to this story.

As stated above, I do run a model railway business, two in the last 15 years, I am fully self employed in the model railway business and have thousands of happy customers right across the world. Assertions to my character made here would not be recognised by them! 

The simple fact of the matter is I had no idea the decoder was expected to be returned as I'd not received any communication or refund from the seller or my bank . So I assumed I was stuck with the decoder and simply bought a Zimo and moved on. Once I was told today the decoder was expected and indeed over due, I returned it via Special Delivery today JS144496467GB.

As has also been said above, I did seek help with the CV's as the performance of the model was not what I wanted. Notes were made of the original numbers and the CV's were put back to original once I knew the ESU was being replaced with a Zimo. All I changed was acceleration,  deceleration and brake strength.

I've not been able to return the speaker as it's been modified to fit over my models flywheel. Just for the record, If DC Kits decide a refund can be made, I'm more than happy to pay all his postage costs and pay for the speaker I have kept.
