Are they in SR brown? 😒

    Paul

I don't know what paint manufacturer/code the MHR use for their BR Bauxite but it is very dark in my opinion. Almost looks like maroon in some lighting.

They don't need to be designed or tooled, but there will presumably need to be painted samples, so since they aren't listed under samples received, I'd guess the others in this category for which details have been given is your best guide.  At best 2024 Q4, but probably more likely to be the first half of 2025.  Some of the in production items have a 2024 Q4 delivery date, so any earlier than that would seem highly unlikely.

The 2024 range models the longer 16'6" wagons so tooling is needed but this could have already been in hand when the 5/7 planks were tooled as the announcement of this batch mentioned "These wagons are also six inches longer than our first models, which thanks to the model's clever design we are able to cater for."

Whats the story with 37108 ? I dont think its run this century and its had lots of body work attention over the years and clearly cared for, is this one coming back to life or just intended as  a static exhibit ?

The accurascale video mentions its having full restoration.

I've also seen comments saying if was the one on the low loader in the Channel 4 program "The Bashers" so a small claim to fame.

Excellent! I had heard a rumour from someone a long time ago that the reason there was a lack of Sussex wagons in the Rapido range was because the Bluebell might do some, I hope it's the first of many! Although I'm not sure I'll be able to get over to the railway any time soon

Being a member of the Goods Division I can confirm there was a plan to do a few different local wagons as exclusives for the main shop but it didn't work out in the end. Hopefully there will be more and maybe not restricted to the PO range.

We will have some on our online shop in a few weeks for those unable to get to the railway to purchaslockquote widget

  5. Another exclusive has been revealed over on Facebook

"We are delighted to announce that on Saturday 27th April we will launch for sale our G. Newington & Co. 5-Plank Wagon which has been produced exclusively for us by Rapido.

The limited edition run of 100 comes with a numbered certificate and will initially only be available by visiting the Carriage Shop at Horsted Keynes station.

All profits from the sale of this model are being donated to the Bluebell Railway Goods Division."

  6. Received the Kernow exclusive Moger. Very impressive in all aspects. The brake gear is particularly fine with separate inner/outer Vee hangars and proper split push rods for the brake blocks.

What's also a very neat piece of design is the draw gear rods double up as the centering device for the coupling pockets.

Looking forward to the SECR & LBSC wagons later in the year.

  7. I can sort of see why Hornby recommend using the opened chimney as it seems to force the steam up one opening.

I haven't got one but I wonder what would happen to the steam if you cut the "web" in the bottom half of the double chimney back leaving it open below but still looking like a double chimney from the top. Wonder if it would help direct the blast up both openings?

They should only go for a railway company with no RTR representation, that built and operated an 0-6-0T that looked like an 'industrial'  design. I give you the North London Railway's Park 0-6-0T of 1880; 8" less wheelbase, 3 feet shorter in the frame than the Victory.  These latterly achieved some fame on the Cromford and High Peak. Made to the same standard as the Victory - I support all the praise already expressed in this thread - 'twould be a knockout.

Having spent time last year smartening up the paintwork on the sole survivor I have been looking for one to add to my collection. I would definitely put my name down for a couple of them.

Seen on the 19th April last year:

Have a look in the ‘Smaller Suppliers’ area, for the announcement by Oak Hill Works (originally by Train Times) for a LB&SCR D.1433 van. First announced in Oct 1923, the most recent post in the thread was Jan 29th.

That's a very long development period on them models!

  10.

From what I remember there is two different chimneys being modelled.

It's probably easier from a tool-making point of view to split the chimney there and just change the top half than have it in one piece and end up having two or more smoke box mouldings.

For those who like to use Hunt couplings the extra close [XC] version work nicely here on my tightest curves. You could probably go closer if you trimmed and glued them but that would be a permanent fix. I don't have any of the Ultra Close type in stock but will try these at a later date. I've also added the extra pipes as supplied in the polybag and they don't interfere with the running.

They do look rather nice. Not ordered any yet but may do seeing them now they have arrived.

Does anyone know what the green stripes on the corners of the vans mean?

  12. The email did mention the green being wrong on the SECR livery Edit, crossed with Frans reply.

Also looks like they missed the lighter green between the Red/Yellow lining.

Don't think 556 is preservation livery because to my knowledge none of the P's have carried SR livery in pres. Probably should both be green.

The "Jones Green" livery in the center has no road number on the buffer beam.  Is this correct? Also, when did "Jones Green" give way to the darker olive "Drummond Green" on the right?

Ion't know if that's correct for that livery. The news letter did say there were corrections to make after reviewing these first painted samples so that may be on the list.
