Hi as a collecter of this wonderful railway system even with its problems. When I regear one I find it helps before you fit the wheels run a craft knife around the horse shoe axle aptures till they are clean even shiny this gives better pickup and rasie the gear a bit

I may crack on with it over the winter.....nobody seemed interested in it when I offered it for sale so I'm going to look into motor/gearbox options and possibly even consider dead railing it.

I wasn't sure how the solder would take to the blocks that form the inner part of the cylinders. The bits you can see are white metal but the stuff inside is something else. So the outer parts of the cylinders are glued on.The front buffer beam. Complete with old-school rivetsI attached it to the footplate with copious gobs of epoxy

As has been said elsewhere in relation to the Britannia kit - the MMP steam loco kits were highly-detailed for their time but would not hold up against the MOK 9F [one of which I own]. They were pre-CAD, and are kits from a very different era. They ceased to be part of the MMP range in 1992. Go for the MOK kit!

Got a summer text from hatton's the price they have dropped o gauge locos down to is amazing and also oo is well worth a look o gauge class 20s £340 wagons £38.00 i knew o gauge was getting cheaper not sure what the kit market will do
