  1. Not quite sure if this is the right place to post this query, so apologies if not.

I have an OO Gauge  2-H Thumper in BR Blue fitted with Legomanbiffo sound. I'm modelling late-1970s/early-80s around Portsmouth, so it would be used on the Portsmouth-Southampton or Portsmouth-Salisbury/Bristol/Cardiff services. I'd like to be able to add a 3rd coach to make a 3-H, but obviously would want to maintain the integrity of the electrical connections between all the coaches. Is there any existing coach model that I could add in the middle of the rake without too much needed to modify the electrics? Or would the electrics be quite a job?

  2. Thanks, Jason

Yes, I tend to use those sites too, but they don't quite give everything one needs/expects before one buys - and why should it be left to them rather than the manufacturer?! At least Hornby tend to provide a lot of details themselves.

Let's hope the Bachmann website re-vamp provides more helpful info.

Meanwhile does anyone know if the Bachmann 31-380 Class 416 actually has coach lighting & passengers?

  3. I seem to have great difficulty trying to find out the specification for Bachmann products. Their website seems to give very few details - unless I'm looking in the wrong place.  Re-sellers can give conflicting details. For instance, the Bachmann 31-380 Class 416: some re-sellers say it comes with passengers (I think I found this on the Bachmann site somewhere too), others say not; some say it comes with interior coach lighting others don't give any such details.

Is there a definitive place to find out what's really included with any particular product?

  4. If you have purchased the Cobalt SS with the controller board you don't need an accessory decoder as the controller board will work with DCC. The controller board has two individually addressed accessory outputs to connect a SS motor to, but you can connect more than one motor to each output (i.e. for a cross over) using the included extension cable. I have had three SS motors plugged into one output and it still seems to work ok.

This sounds great. So will they work ok with E-link & RailMaster once the addresses have been set via the controller or do the addresses need to be set via RailMaster itself?? Will they work direct from the Hornby Select DCC controller too?

  5. I've just purchased a couple of these with their associated controller board. I don't think that they'll work with my Hornby R8247 Accessory Decoder, the instructions for which suggest it can only be used with solenoid point motors.

Can anyone suggest a good, inexpensive accessory decoder that will work with the Cobalt SS? Ideally, because I'd like to use more of these if they work ok, I want an accessory decoder that will control more than just 2 point motors.
