Hi Everyone.
I was unsure what building I was going to use, then by chance I found myself in a shop today that sells xbox games etc and they also sell some second hand trains etc.
I had a rummage in a box on the floor and found a Hornby r510 platform shelter, it was dirty and in need of a repaint.
I asked how much and the bloke said £1.50 so I couldn't resist.
Here is a photo of tonight's work, the repainted building:
It looks better than the photo.
Tomorrow's work will have to wait until Sunday as it's the wife's birthday, she's a leap year baby.
More soon.
Jerry.
Phew at least we haven't the same station building. Wish your wife a happy birthday from this household

Hi Jerry
Well dam and blast looking at what you are doing is very similar to what I have been working on for months now lol.
Even down to the same goods shed! In the same place on a 4'x1' layout, l will start a thread when I figure out how to post photos on this site.
Went out today to buy a copy of the Model Rail mag to check out the track plan might alter mine as not yet fully committed.
Will be following with interest and would like to know what station building you will be using?
Kind. Regards John.

Fan bloomintastic layout Kev! Words fail me. Up to page 126 and the references to Pendon are more than justified.
I've visited that master piece for more than 40 years and have every decade since and yours is equal in almost every scenic department if not better.
Would love to see more of the characters that populate the place but relaise at about 3 quid a piece that could cost a fortune. Keep up the good work as its never finished!

I think that the steel factory idea works well otherwise what would you fill that space with given your track layout?
Experts have been known to differ however Lol
looking forward to seeing how this develops...

This is a cracking layout! As a regular dog walker of the now disused line I think you have captured the topography to a tee! I have a place down the road in Nailsworth that also had a branch line terminus a lot of the buildings still remain although now private dwellings. I would love to model such a prototype and had thought about Tetbury or Nailsworth but alas space is an issue to do it justice as you have done. I will have to content myself for the time being with my fictitious micro. Once again well done.

Thanks Stu, Ive learnt something today! Yesterday I received an order from hattons with some kadee uncoupling magnets which sit between the rail. They say they're for code 100 rail but I assumed they would be fine for code 75 as the difference is only a mm. Turns out I am 100% wrong, which is quite frustrating. The magnets actually managed to derail my class 25 by catching on the underframe of the bogie. (No the magnet wasn't sitting on the chairs) Even on some code 100 track I was still having trouble and I checked my kadees to the kadee height gauge. So back to the drawing board I go, anyone had experiences with neodymium magnets? Any advice? By the way, I have a new loco on the way... Hint, it's a steamer this time
Hi Luke
I'm employing the neodymium magnets and staples system on my layout. The magnets I use are 4mm dia. X 8mm thick that have a 0.7kg pull which I fit between the sleepers which are drilled and glued into the base board, then ballasted. I get them from first4magnets and a pack of 10 cost about £5 inc p&p. It might be worth checking out their web the part no. I use is F408-10. It might be worth a try with the kadees. Nothing ventured and all that...

Thank you very much - we had a good day at a very good "small" show. Nice to see Eileen's Emporium there - they got a few of my pounds...
Less is more lol...that said having attended a few shows here I feel that Thornbury are out growing the venue. The quality of layouts was fantastic but a bit more space to view would be welcome. Hope you didn't break the bank at Eileen's, l nearly did on one trader but by the time I had made my mind up and went back it had been sold

Hi Phil,
Great looking layout with bags of detail, can I ask how uncoupling of wagons is performed?
Regards John.

Hello Southwell,
Super layout with great details, I hope that my first attempt comes out as well as this...truly inspirational.

The more I looked at the platform the more I disliked it. I tried adding the ballast, hoping that would help. It didn't - which is hardly surprising as I didn't like the ballast - so the platform is gone.
This is the view at Little Lawley now. No platform. No trains. I've decided to start a bit of ballasting whilst I work out how to sort the platform out - luckily I kept the template for the platform top!
How about using a fine grit sandpaper or wet and dry paper for the platform surface, that might help.
Regards John.

Inspiring from start to finish, keep up the excellent work.

I would also like to see this layout again, I first saw it at Weston super mare, and have I'm sure seen it elsewhere, but can't remember where. Stroud maybe? I think the current owner lives in that neck of the woods.Hi folks,
I realise that it's been nineteen months since the last post on this thread, but I wondered if there had been any developments in the story of this layout, i.e. does it still exist, being exhibited?
Regards,
Alex.
