  1. Can you clarify that statement please ? Are you really saying that the data entered into Trust by Attribution Staff is falsified, if so that is a sweeping and possibly slanderous accusation; Mistakes can and do occur, but Train Operator Controls (TOC) have real-time access to Trust and can, and do, dispute any attribution they believe to be incorrect. Both Network Rail and TOC Controls have replay access to CCF (showing train movements and in some cases signal aspects) and make full use of this facility. If the matter cannot be resolved at Control level it then goes to the next level, the Performance Sections.

The present day system at least ensures that the running of every single train is accurately recorded and reasons for any delay of 3 minutes and over provided; That was not the case in the 'good old days' of BR, for example before Trust the arrival time of Down WCML express trains at Glasgow Central was extrapolated from the passing time at Cambuslang and 7 minutes added; If a delay between Cambuslang and Central occurred, unless Control was specifically advised, it went unrecorded and unexplained.

    Dear Caradick,

Your reply sounds like you are a Manager or a Controller. Given the accusations you have made against me, clearly you believe that someone is guilty based on assumption and there is no need to await any evidence. I hope you don't get called for Jury service anytime soon.

I have simply replied to a question from the OP with my opinion. It wasn't directed at you, so you should desist from making such allegations against me in this way.

I have previously enjoyed this using forum but it would appear it is not the amiable place I thought it was.

  2. It isnt that uncommon now for trains to go missing, when I was a guard at SWT, during disruption we used to regularly get pager messages (pre company issue mobile phones) asking us to look out for 450xxx etc because units were turned around onto other services without anyone noting what was being sent where.

My loco was "missing" once. Booked on duty and given 31xxx but when I walked out to it it wasn't there. I searched the shed but no sign of it. "have you given me the right loco number?" I enquired, "Yes, its on 3 road", "oh no it isn't" I replied "its not on the shed anywhere". Turned out it went off the shed an hour earlier as part of a 5 loco convoy for weekend ballast working! I then had to travel passenger to Doncaster shed to get it! Once it had been split from the other loco's I eventually dropped down to the outlet signal. I was now about 2 hours late. Whilst on the phone to the signaller it went very quiet, my had 31 shut down and was a failure!  I was dragged back on the depot by an 08, my job was cancelled and I travelled back by passenger!

Back OT, its frustrating when communications go wrong. I've just had a [delayed] parcel delivered by Royal Mail but about 10 minutes beforehand the website tracking was still showing no information and simply said "pending"!

  3. It might not be Hattons fault but it is their responsibility as it is they who have a contract with the courier, so it is unfair to suggest that the customer should be taking it up with the courier. I would wait a while and then ask Hattons to resolve the issue. This is when you find out if they value you as a customer.......

In my case with them they weren't interested until I put the pressure on but in an issue with my parcel from Kernow they provided a swift refund in full.

  5. Too flippin' right RMweb isn't safe!!

You can end up wasting hours on here, & there's all sorts of dangerous inspiration, too!! :nono: :shout:

    :jester:

Certainly not safe. There I was, just reading about unifrogs...............then I found myself whisked away to a secure location and was unable to escape hours [until my credit card finally melted].

Its hell being held in Jails.........................or was it Rails.............. :O

  6. There were certainly some very cosmopolitan depots in London in the 80's. At Stratford there were guys from everywhere you could think of including [india and Jamaica] and Southern region depots had a huge amount of staff turnover due to "2nd men" moving there to become drivers and then moving back to the depot they came from once they passed out, leading to a never ending amount of vacancies...................and overtime if you wanted it!

  7. Its very simple guys...............

Treat your lady like your sound decoder installations, firstly, find the one you want and take home, always take great care during transport. Then remove the packaging very slowly and ensure everything is in the right place. If it is not you may wish to abandon your project at this point.........

  8. Whist the Digitrains site isn't the easiest to navigate at first, it is worth searching because some of Mr Chetters sounds are awesome, so if a new site is on the way that's great news.

I was looking for an 08 sound decoder and none matched my requirements, that's because as a retired driver the sound had to perfect for me [ hard to please awkward git ]. I now have a Zimo fitted 08, with lights, with Mr C's  sounds and its as near to reality as you are going to get in my experience. I also have 25, 26, 37 and others but I need a Deltic and an 87, so hopefully Mr C will have a full range soon!

  9. This year my deliveries have been a nightmare.  I have a parcel worth £450 which is currently stranded in Manchester..........................and has been for 5 days, thanks Parcelfarce. The rest are no better except DPD who have always delivered on time. I think I'm going to visit the shops myself in future, that's how bad its been. Looking forward to trips to Cornwall, Widnes, Sheffield, N Wales, although I may just stick to sea-side destinations.........................................and wherever ebay takes me!!!!!

  10. Remember being on a ballast turn one Saturday night where it all went tits up after a cable was accidently cut [ again ]. Whilst waiting to get started again I got chatting to some of the guys with shovels doing the actual graft. They were working a 12hour shift tonight and had been working 12 hour shifts all week.............................re-surfacing the M62!!!!!!

  11. We stopped using our Tesco last year when it changed from 24 hour opening because they were stocking shelves during the day with boxes and trollies everywhere. It became very dangerous trying walk around as the staff seemed to have a limited amount of time and were in such a rush and was only a matter of time before a customer got injured. We now use Saisburys, they have an excellent café!

  12. Always had a great service from these guys but for the first time I've received a damaged item. The parcel was not damaged and the contents were well packed. No reply to my email yet but I suppose this is when you find out just how good/concerned they are.

  13. Best project I've heard for an 08 is Paul Chetters project on Zimo from Digitrains. I've just fitted a 21 pin into my Hornby 08. It stuttered with the Loksound decoder in, but the Zimo seems to have cured this, whilst sounding better as well. Do we know what DCC fitting the TTS sound loco will have? As I say, the Loksound version had 21 pin, presumably to save space. Trevor

When I first heard Pauls 08 sound I broke out in a cold sweat as, having just retired from driving, I thought I was back at work!
