  1. I hope you enjoy the new journey Woodyfox, the last two DMU masterpieces you made are now on shed, albeit a bit lost on the Western region, but rule 1 does apply. I will get a photo of all of your old DMUs together soon!

  2. Chris I think the maths is not quite right there, 150 units at the crowdfunder price is not £600,000 - one too many zeros there in your guesstimate.

Still a big figure there though.

I didn’t go for a crowdfunded one as he seemed to have difficulties with his Chinese suppliers, then his UK suppliers, so he couldn’t have had a supply chain in place for the class 22 when he started the crowdfunding.

  3. It was our first foray down to see this show and it was most enjoyable and our group admired many lovely layouts. There was a pre-arranged motive for the long haul which was the hand over of Newhurst, which is now in Scotland.

Lots of plans for the future for it, including DCC sound with synchronised chuff n puff along with five or six coach length trains.

  4. While I was thinking of Arley I decided to create a shunting area away from the station, giving the best of both worlds - prototypical simple station allowing a pick up goods to shunt the odd wagon into the bay after having left a bigger yard.

This might be worthy of consideration.

  5. Pay attention you guys at the back. I have been curving Peco points on most of my previous layouts.  :biggrin_mini2:

I have been having fun (not) with Digitrains ZS012 sound.....

    Bought  four ZS012 in 2016.

PGH ordered another ZS012 three months ago for the 64XX and it was a different sound and far better.

Well impressed, I ordered another ZS012 two weeks ago for a 46XX and it came as a ZS012A and is different again!

I'm confused, as I only wanted to buy more of the ones sold to PGH.

The darned whistle is written into the program and it sounds every time the loco re-starts or reverses!  Bad idea....................

This was done on the Golden Age Models locos too, the theory being it makes a whistle noise when being run on straight DC.

Maybe they have two different files, one written for DC and one for DCC?

  6. Larry - not surprised you have done this.

Our two projects are remarkably similar, we have both chosen a branchline setting, I have chosen Arley in O gauge, but think of it slightly differently - it is a series of dioramas interlinked.

Arley station - Diesel shed, shunting area with goods shed, Victoria Bridge and a steam shed with turntable, not shown on the control panel, so lots to keep you happy depending on whether you want to run trains, shunt or move locos around.

If you can drop a camera down on the track and it looks like Carrog from that view then it is a complete success, then by turning the camera round you get a completely different view.

  7. Hi Vin

Yes I have the lights set up as daytime running lights on F0, then other function keys for cab lights, night time running lights, brake lights and engine bay lights.

Brian I have not fitted the numbers on the loco yet, Severn mill plates are on their way.

How are the sector transfers in the box? Worthy of use or best trashing them?

  8. Just finished a DCC sound installation on the Heljan Class 60, with mods and enhancements as I went along.

I have added cab lights, re-wired all the lighting directly to the chip, installed my exclusive CJW speakers and spent some time on the DCC set up.

Next up will be the Severn Mill plates and then some weathering.

  9. Message from my friends at Howes - they are contacting Heljan to ensure the Class 60 PDF file goes up on the Heljan website tomorrow.

    Hope this helps!
