There's a close-up on Paul's site that shows the buffer beam with no rivets or reinforcing plate, just the raised ridge as on the longer buffer beam shown in your pic.

Neat! Are the switch blades still pivoted on the tie-bar? I was thinking you could easily adapt the design to use the twin dropper-and-tube method, a la Ian Rice, to avoid stresses on the blades.

Delighted to find this blog - I've recently purchased one of these kits (unmade, complete, and cheaper!) so I'll be referring to this as it will be my first 0 gauge wagon kit... first venture into 0 gauge of any sort actually!

One of the triangular pivots on the side of the vac cylinder rests in the 'L' shaped mark, thereby setting the depth. Hope that helps!
