  1. Anyone know if the Rustons have a front pocket for the power line? Wondering if it'd be possible to couple two of them up together without the match wagon for shunting various stock. Would that be likely to short them out? (Assuming no as they'd be working through the same current, but may end up making each other stall or run slower?)

  2. Morning all,

Many thanks for the concern Teaky. I have been ill but after a weeks break and apart from a hacking cough I'm still here. I will reply to you via PM.

There is only a certain number of warrenty models and each model that is sent back for repair is checked as 9 times out of 10 it can be easily fixed and returned. Occasionally one will need to be replaced but only once the customers model has been checked.

As has been mentioned elsewhere and several times in this thread, Stuart is one person and I know he works very hard and tries to respond to all communication but it may take a while if lots of people are sending emails, phoning and placing orders via the website which he will need to pick, pack and post. I'm sure if you have any ideas on how to improve things then please send an email in.

    Hi Makkenzy,

I have sent you an email this morning but I thought I would reply on here as well. Your model arrived on the Friday that I went on holiday for a week. Now this is something that I don't announce due to past instances of people turning up at my address unannounced whilst they thought I wasn't there. So for security I don't say now.

I don't answer emails whilst on holiday as I like most people need to have some down time and leave work behind, hence the delay in replying to your email you sent on Thursday, plus the SWMBO isn't too impressed whilst we are away to find me sat emailing about work.

I hope this goes some way to explain why you didn't get a reply but I'm only human and need a rest sometimes.

    Thanks

Thank you, I sent you a reply and I apologise once again for my impatience. I've a fair bit going on in terms of projects and it has given me a bit of an anxious edge. Too many things to keep track of!

I'll hold my patience in future, normally I only order from places like Hatton's or places that my friends work at, so I'm sure you can see my view here. Thank you again. :)

  3. I haven't got one, but it doesn't sound right . Most people comment on how smooth it runs and it certainly seems so from any YouTube coverage I've seen. There is a guy on here, sorry can't remember user name, that has been appointed repair guy for Rapido. If you scroll back over the pages you will see him, but I also believe the place to send queries is listed on the instructions with your model . I'd try emailing him or send him a Personal Message . Maybe its something relatively simple and he can point you in the right direction. Failing that he will give address of place to send model back to.

Thank you, I'll pop him a message and see if I can get something sorted. I found myself quite disappointed with my loco as the running went on, as one of the tender buffers popped out too, I ended up having to glue it back into place. It's also comparatively noisy compared to other locos, so I definitely think I got the short straw of the batch!*

*I should quickly say that I'm not going to put Rapido or Locomotion on blast for any problems I've had, this does happen and I'm just happy I have a Single, even if it does need a bit of a tune-up!

  4. Hey all, just to come back to this thread for some advice (assuming there's some owners in here) my locomotive's performance isn't improving as expected. I ran it in for 40 minutes in each direction on my 10ft by 9ft, gently curved loop, but it still jolts over the points and doesn't like slow speeds. I can only attribute this to the locomotive's pickups acting sparsely as it stopped several times during running in on the points, despite going at a moderate pace. All my track is Peco Code 100, all the points are express points including two curved sets on the outer loop it ran on, and none of my other locos behave in such an erratic fashion. (Not even my Pecketts or Barclays, they handle those points perfectly!)
Did anyone else have issues with the loco's pickups, and how do you access them? I genuinely cannot see them on the tender wheels and I'm quite scared of opening her up!
Also, is it possible the tender coupling could be at fault? It definitely is picking up power from the tender but this seems to be inconsistent.
Sorry to be a pain, but thank you to anyone who can help in advance!

  5. Pleased to say my Single finally arrived! She's gorgeous, though I did have to do a good deal of fettling with the chains, and she's missing the bogie centring spring for some reason.
Regardless of that single issue, very happy with her!*  :)

*Update in next post, had some small faults needing rectifying.

  6. I've only ordered mine relatively recently - indeed I originally didn't intend to try getting a Single at all - and my payment has gone through along with my order number, so I have a good point of reference.
It seems the issue itself is simply lack of staffing, as I would've hoped my Single would be here by the tenth. From what I can see, politely asking them again and again until you get through is the only way to really make sure your order's progressed. I don't like pestering people, but in this case I'd rather pester than cancel my order outright.

  7. Hi all, can anyone tell me if they got a notification of postage upon ordering their Single? Ordered mine over a week ago now and I've had the order confirmation, but no dispatch confirmation nor a tracking number, just an order reference number.
Not sure if they're being posted in one batch and mine's being held back, or if it's just a slow courier! Thanks in advance. :)

  8. For any other people who ordered late, I was told I'd be getting an email with mine's invoice by the 25th, today (and I know it's a small team, don't think I'm having a go please!), but I haven't received one.
Can anyone else confirm whether these emails came within or out of working hours? Thanks! :)
    - Edit, didn't receive the invoice at all. Whoops!

  9. Hi all, just to bring the topic back to the Single, I've seen people have been claiming to order it as recently as a week ago, despite Locomotion's site saying it's unavailable unless previously ordered.
Does anyone think they could help me with ordering - or at least telling me what the situation is - if possible? Locomotion's communication system seems to be pretty spotty at the best of times (understandably) and I'm keen to secure my Single.  :scratchhead:

(As for why I didn't order it before, I didn't expect it to be as good as it is, and pregrouping wasn't my scene a couple of years back. I have been told by Locomotion that there will be some available, but they don't provide any further information.)
