The NSWGR 42 Class is pretty much a straight F-unit with European buffing and drawgear.

Yes I'm sure there was some discussion of EE locos on the MSW lines somewhere at some point.  I wonder if the result would have a more typical British EE styling to fit the loading gauge?  Another use for all those 37s displaced by the forthcoming Accurascale model perhaps, along with the early build EE 1500hp type 3s.

    Hi,

Winter 1991/92, Phil Atkins wrote in Railways South East on page 18: “During last 18 months of Maunsell's tenure Percy Bollen produced alternative designs for electric locomotives in Bo-Bo, 1-Bo Bo-1, 1A-Bo-A1 and Bo-Bo-Bo configurations”. Did anybody ever see at least one of these diagrams? Maybe some technical data?

Hughes proposed a Pacific pre WW1 and this was (IIRC) the mineral engine variant of that proposal. Neither was proceeded with because they were deemed to be far too powerful for the traffic on offer, not to mention signalling issues, length of loops etc.

The idea that a CME would go so far as to produce such designs and present them to the board but not be serious doesn't bear thinking about. I should think the Civil Engineer and the Signalling Engineer got the vapours when they saw the diagrams.

    Hi,

Fascinating! Is there anywere a diagram of the Hughes Pacific available?

Same question concerning the GCR 2-10-0. As far as I am informed the GCR considered some 2-10-2 projects.

    Thank you,

  3. Hi all,

E2001 prototype again. Silver Fox didn´t answer my questions but I found some of his kits on ebay, E2001 as well. The locomotive is approaching its final detailing but there is one problem, the 1/16" white stripe along its body. Can anybody recommend a shop, manufacture, etc for this item?

    Thanks,

  4. Hi,

the Bavarian 0-4-0T had NO inside connecting rods and NO oposing pistons! There was a single piston moving inside the cylinder but its rod was connected at each end to the drivers via coupling rods. That´s all.

Another topic, another Beyer Peacock projects:

Proposed Garratt engines, Cork Bandon and S Coast Rlwy,  Dec 1910
Proposed passenger Garratt engine, JP Hearne & Co, London, Jan 1911
Proposed Garratt Engine, Great Central Rly, Nov 1912

    Can anybody help?

    Cheers,

  5. A little something I'd like to try to make someday, the English electric built L class overhead electric locos for Australia.  But just assuming that BR ordered some, modified to fit our loading gauge using Deltic bodywork....

    Hi Simon,

you may find a RTR item of this girl here unfortunately H0 scale, http://www.auscisionmodels.com.au/L Class Locomotive.htm

For might have beens using a Deltic body try a look into Back Track 2014, "In place of steam: the development of alternatives. p. 247-51" vol. 4 (April) by Norman Lowe. You may find there a proposal for Class CC4 as intended for the Southern.

  6. Hi,

can anybody suggest a manufacturer of BR pantographs (kits?) in 00 scale as used with no E2001? Bachmann answered they do not supply such items as a single piece but only fitted to a locomotive body.
