Yes I quite agree. Honestly "Blind Freddy" could have worked out that the BR Green model would be the most popular.  Come on Bachman, use your brains please. I know I should have pre-ordered but I was a little nervous about the EFE name and there do seem to have been a "few" little hiccups..............

I am glad I found this thread. Just today I went through all of what the previous posters have gone through, the slowing down of the railcar, then the smoke filling the passenger compartment and the really foul smell! 

I think I am lucky in that it has been in service for many years but then I have many, many locos and railcars that have done far more work than this poor little AC Railcar had done.

Oh well such is life!

Hi Neil, I posted a video a couple of weeks back on YouTube

I use a standard hand held Gaugemaster "Combi" DC controller.  Like with Rapido locos you gave to be gentle but she runs very slowly and has even improved further over the last 2 weeks!

Track is just basic Peco Code 100 with Electrofrog points.

I found this rather nice colour picture of 1504, dated March 1962 in an old Ian Allen book "British Railways in Colour: Western Region". I hope some may find it of interest or even useful.

Isn't she just beautiful!

If anyone is game enough to try and weather their new model of 1504 to this level I would love to see the finished loco!

I think it certainly does need some weathering though to help bring out the detail, the pristine model is just too black..............

I am delighted to say that 1504 arrived in South East Queensland today, all the way from Widnes and there was nothing loose in the box, nothing had fallen off and she runs superbly even at a ridiculous "crawl". I use Peco code 100 and a Gaugemaster "Combi".

She has entered service and is doing the job she was designed for perfectly.😃

I must have been very fortunate in my choice of locomotive. Resolven Grange entered service on 16th April 2005 and has hardly been off the layout since. She works turn about with Rood Ashton Hall on the XP Vans, usually between 12 to 15 assorted vans plus brake. As I say, apart from wheel cleaning and basic lubrication she has been an amazing loco since the first day I had her.  I will take care should I ever need to remove her body!

Yes I still remember my first trip down to Euston behind an Electric, WOW!

Then I would walk back across to Liverpool Exchange and once again enter the Victorian Era! Mind you some Class 40's had started to appear but Black 5's still reigned supreme. Occasionally an ex-works Jubilee would also appear. One of them, I think it was Mars,  thrashing through Orrell Park at 60+ was a sight!

Getting back to Sam. I am just worried about how many sales he looses to some manufacturers. He has over 130 subscribers out there and sadly I am sure some are influenced by the "enormous" rivets and lack of a "crawl" etc etc...... 

One last thing and I will shut up and head back to bed, Young Simon and his Dad just visited the North Norfolk Railway and in the latest Simon's Train Adventure there is some lovely footage of a 9F starting up, buffering up, running round etc etc. At no stage is there any semblance of a "crawl"! Sam please go and watch some more real trains.

Just getting back to the back yard birds, if Little Bytham ever has a snake problem try one of these!

I just wanted to add to this story from a few pages back. If you look closely at the original picture you can see the cab has a driver and secondman fitted. I found this picture showing how they were fitted. I am fairly certain the seats came from an American Tyco kit of a diner or some such establishment. It really was great fun building this. I believe Dapol re-released the Deltic kit as well so there must be a few still out there. A good friend of mine motorised the Beyer Garret, now that was a feat! I wonder how many motorised Kitmasters are still running..........

I shall pass on this model much as I love the thought of a cast meta Deltic. I doubt if some of my baseboards would stand up to the weight of it!

Sorry if someone has already said this but I have never in more than 70 years been so underwhelmed by the new years offerings.

I suppose I was secretly hoping for a new Southern L1 or a decent 02 following the EFE debacle.

I just started a new topic on Sam's latest 3D build, the Furness Railway Coppernob. He really has taken this whole idea to a new level with the way he is constructing a wheel press and with the fine details incorporating brass wire as well as the 3D printed parts. The running of the little loco is so smooth. Please go and watch this with an open mind, Even a few years ago we would have considered what Sam is doing as really exceptional modelling.

I just wondered if I am the only person following what Sam is doing in this series. My wife and I have just watched the 2nd episode where Sam has created an extremely fine running model of the old Furness Railway Coppernob. As part of the construction he basically made his own version of the old Hamblings Wheel Press tool! Who remembers those?

Whatever you think of Sam and his reviews on YT, this lad is doing a great job.
