Certainly the CM&EE building at the RTC had some hefty side lift jacks that would be able to do the job, but they were fixed in position on the floor and wouldn't allow any end to end movement.

Nothing new there. The APT-P publicity pictures were retouched with the later livery.

Hammers to break windows were behind pull-off covers in each coach - no 'special' escape windows like some modern trains have.

The first of those pictures is of the interior of a TU dining car - so yes it had 2+1 seating. The second is of a Trailer Brake First again 2+1 seating.

Second class vehicles were 2+2.
