  1. ...and for those that don't want/have a PC next to their layout (exhibition layouts?) I'm currently working on a small 60x60mm button operated 'player'.

It's capable of playing upto 255 pre-recorded announcements/sounds selectable from an 8x8 button matrix and has a built in audio amp so you'll just need a speaker and 5v or 12v power.

Announcements can be user generated using the new recording feature on the Announcement Generator software and saved onto microSD card or maybe supplied pre-programmed.

No firm costs yet but probably going to be around £40 for the unit with a blank microSD

Would there be any interest in this?

Thanks Phil. Key received and it’s seems to work well. Thanks

By way of a suggestion, could we have in the service selection box ‘nothing’ so it does not announce anything for the service just the rest of the info.

Would fit in a bit better for my late 50’s early 60’s era of my layout for some of the operations I have in mind. Thanks.

    It's already there...sort of

Just select 'Service' (bottom of second column). It will then just say "the 12:35 service to wherever"

I logged into my account, I have a paid for key, and ordered the new version which went through and shows as order complete but no down load.
    Order number #942.

Using the link in the email takes you to a page that just says no file defined.

    Any suggestions please.

    Hi Andy

Probably a glitch on the website as I've been updating stuff

I've refreshed your order if you can try again...if it still doesn't work just start a new order.

When you do get it installed send me the system id code and I'll generate a free new unlock code for you as your old one won't work on it.

    regards

    HI Phil,

I've tried to use the Demo but it says my trial has expired.

Is this because I downloaded the original version for trial?  Its really the BR 70s/80s version I wanted.

    Hi John

Sorry about that...I missed a comma out in ~60000 lines of code!

If you uninstall, re-download from the website and re-install it should now work ok

:dancer: Departure Announcement Generator British Rail version is now available for download :dancer:

    https://www.pipnbean.com/product/train-announcement-generator-british-railways-demo/

This evaluation has the following limitations:
This is a time limited (3 days) demo of the Train Departure Announcement Generator BR

Only stations beginning with the letter 'A' will be available to use

Upgrade to the full unlimited version by purchasing a licence key

This will install as the full working version for anyone that has installed the previous version and purchased a licence key (on the same PC)

No user instructions yet but I'm sure you can figure most of it out!

  6. Just a quick update

The BR version is almost ready for release and all going well will be available by this coming weekend.

Contains every british passenger station ever opened...over 8900 of them!

Added the ability to directly record the announcements in mp3 or wav format for use in Railmaster, Train Sim, Mp3 players etc...

Audio is now split into stereo channels. Announcements and station sound effects will only come from the left speaker, all other effects (weather, birds, church bells, etc) will come from the right speaker. This allows you to place one speaker under the station and a 'atmospheric' speaker elsewhere (under the village/town?)

Choice of 3 types of BR chimes, 3 tone, 4 tone, Birmingham New Street tone, or none.

Surround Sound so a layout sounds like the 'actual' Countryside your model is based in and then the Train has/Trains have appropriate sounds as it/they run/s through it, instead of just the loco making a tinny sound that is rather weak and boring (as on most steam models). Available for DC and DCC and adapt able by the lay-person rather than some clever Puter geek (many of whom are fine people as I have met them).

Apart from that, actual mini passengers and figures that can move around when required.

Surround Sound for model railways :agree: I'm working on it now ;)

  8. You can download a Windows 7 dvd image file from here:

    https://www.softlay.com/downloads/windows-7-ultimate

    Select the 64bit version

You'll be able to try it out for 90 days before you need to register

Install Windows 7 virtual machine in VirtualBox:

    https://o7planning.org/11883/install-windows-7-virtual-machine-in-virtualbox

Once it's up and running install the Announcement Generator on the Windows 7 and all should work fine

    Hope that helps

  9. Hi Mike

The license key is linked to a single pc but I'm happy to supply a free extra key for your laptop, just let me know when you're ready and the laptop System ID code as shown on program start-up or in the settings page. The keys will work with the current version and the forthcoming BR version.

The BR version is almost finished, just got the 9000 stations (should be every passenger station ever opened in Briton!) to check and process...probably 2 weeks to finish and test.

  10. Hi all

Sorry for my absence over the last few months but a heavy workload, pandemic problems and other issues had delayed any progress on the BR version.

Good news is that I'm now actively beavering away on it and it will hopefully be ready for release within a month or so.

The 'contemporary' version, soon to be renamed something like 'Announcement Generator 2000+' is still available from the website and any licence code purchased for that

will also work with the upcoming 'Announcement Generator BR'
