  1. The last episode last Thursday had quite a good piece about a guy getting back into railway modelling via his grandson, no railway stuff going through the auction mind, although lots of it about in the saleroom. One coment from the Vectis valuer surprised me when he said that the bottom has dropped out of the train market more or less indicated the death of the hobby, I thought it was seeing a healthy revival.

  2. Hello

My Bachmann 04 shed one of the pins holding part of the coupling rod together. Before I start trying to make a repair, can anyone tell me how the pin might be secured would it just be a force fit or would a drop of glue be involved? See photo s - thanks.

  3. The contrast between this and his other items is good, most of his stuff seems to sell for 3 or 4 pounds and then the next batch of items £726K He'll be a multi millionare by weekend.

  4. My BCGB Barclay has run like a bag of spanners since i got it, really noisy, however, it's been cured today by nothing more than unscrewing the screws securing the body, it now glides along with hardly a hint of noise from the motor. It's always something simple!

  5. My L shape layout is in a square room about 9ft square, one side runs in front of the window and the main light of the room is behind me so I'm often working in my own shadow. I'd appreciate some advice as to how i could fix up some simple lighting, would battery powered LED lights be an option, they'd have to be fixed on the walls, or could i fix some sort of along the mid length of the layout and string some lights from that. I've attached a rough sketch which for some reason appears upside down, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

  6. I've just been reading Boyd's book on the SMR and note there's a couple of photographs of the wreck of LADAS the loco which left the track on the opening day and plunged off the side of the mountain. He says the boiler was recovered but looking at the hunk of the chassis i wonder if this was ever salvaged and if anyone knows if bits of it remain to this day. An internet search reveals not a lot.

I got these storage boxes. They come in a range of colours (so match my liveries).

Foamboard tray inserts keeps everything in it's place.

Coach and Wagon boxes gets chucked.

Loco boxes I keep. Don't really know why as I don't intend to sell any of my locos.

This looks good. So the inserts, do you make them or buy them from somewhere?

  8. Like many of us, I've far too much stock to operate my branch line terminal. I'd be interested in ideas as to how to safely  store stock which is in use but you don't want to go to the fag of putting it away in its box which takes so much time to pack and unpack. I've seen those cardboard  trays from Bachmann but they're quite expensive for a carboard box. Thanks.

  9. I'd like to say a big thank you to Russell at KS Models for his excellent service. Pity I don't live nearer, but I'll certainly use them again. I'd been struggling to find a spare gear set for a Chinese made Britannia after the original split ( something which seems to happen all to often with both Hornby and Bachmann locos. Anyway, after an appeal on here and the help of a fellow RMweb member I emailed Russell who rang me and sorted out the part which arrived today. I fitted it this afternoon and the loco runs really well, so big thanks all round. At  £6 odd plus postage KS Models have not made much out of me but I'll certainly give them some business in future

  10. Anyone know where I might find an X9607 gear set for a Britannia? Mine's split resulting in the motor revolving but no power getting to the wheels. I've searched the usual suppliers but they all seem to be out of stock. Is this gear common to a number of locos and would it have a different part number. Thanks.
