It was great to meet you and see Glenadam Distillery in the flesh at Statfold, Adam! Were I without dogs I could have very very happily given you a break and played trains for an hour or two. What canโt be conveyed in RMWeb is how beautifully it runs. All the best, Andrew

Andrew D replied to dasatcopthorne's topic in Layout topics
It was great to meet you at Tonbridge today Dave, and thanks for patiently answering all my questions. I've passed a very enjoyable evening reading your thread and am grateful to you for taking the time to reinstate the missing photos. Looking forward to seeing Elbow Lane again soon. Cheers, Andrew -
Iโm really enjoying following your progress James, and am very grateful for your detailed explanations of the processes you follow. ๐

Hi there, since starting this thread Iโve had a major life change get in the way. This layout is still very much on the cards (with the new Streamline small radius points) but in all reality wonโt even be started until Spring 2025 at the earliest. As my living arrangements are temporary at the moment Iโm planning on a small and simple inglenook in the meantime.

A new Inglenook? Pile Street?
Andrew D replied to Gilbert's topic in Boxfiles, Micro layouts & Dioramas
Great minds, Chris! Although Iโm still going through the rationalisation process and hoping to tie up some loose ends before I start on my inglenook. Following with interest. -

Iโm another fan of this layout who is glad that you have your mojo back. Mine disappeared for over a year but itโs also meandering its way back. Looking forward to more updates and videos ๐ -
Absolutely brilliant! I love what you have done here and the scenic effects. I like this layout so much.

Canterbury Model Railway Exhibition - 20th and 21st January 24
Andrew D replied to Jack's topic in Exhibitions
I popped in to the Canterbury show yesterday for what I thought would be an hour and ended up staying over 3 hours. Not only some interesting layouts but very friendly and chatty operators. My personal faves were Old Parrock, the most beautiful and inspirational small layout that also operated perfectly, Bletchinghurst from Erith MRC, Bottom Works sidings, and of course Brief Encounter from Dawn @Modelrailwayquest. If youโre reading this Sunday and are undecided whether to go, my recommendation is to go! I really enjoyed it. Thanks to the organisers ๐ -
Dale Green: N Gauge in a box for a camper van - now sold
Andrew D replied to Andrew D's topic in Layout topics
Dale Green is now for sale. -
View Advert Compact N Gauge Layout in a Box With a heavy heart I'm needing to sell my N Gauge Layout 'Dale Green' to make space for future projects. The layout is on a reinforced MDF board and is designed to fit into a Really Useful Box that is 77cm x 62cm x 32cm. The Box is included in the sale, as is the Gaugemaster Combi controller and all buildings you see in the pictures. All the locos and rolling stock are NOT included. The layout is wired to be DC controlled, with each siding having a switched supply to allow for interesting shunting. I'm near Deal/Dover in Kent and can deliver quickly locally, bounded by the Medway Services on the M2 and Maidstone Services on the M20. In April I'll be driving up to North Yorkshire via Tamworth and can bring the layout on that trip if you can wait that long. Advertiser Andrew D Date 19/01/24 Price ยฃ300 Category N / 2mm scale

Docks away!, or, making a virtue out of a necessity . . .

Another inspirational masterpiece, Paul! -
Just adding my two penn'orth to the plaudits. I love the whole thing, and especially the cinders ballast around the buildings. I see you did the insetting first - was that regular filler, painted, then cinders flock added on top? Fantastic job. ๐

A thoroughly splendid update that I enjoyed reading, thanks. I especially appreciated the blow-by-blow account of the cassettes, as this is all black magic to me and there are few to no tutorials etc about how to go about this essential part of layout building. I like your idea and might just copy emulate it in a future project. Cheers!
