  1. Hi craig. Thankyou for your observations with regards to the kit. If you went down the road of sanding the sides to gain a correct profile.Do you loose any of the door detail etc and thus have to replace or are the doors a separate item. Do you happen to know anything of the running qualities? thanks Richard
  2. Well just good morning to all. Im looking for some information/feedback from people who may have built one of the Easy Build 121 units. Ive seen a few other items built up several years ago but have no knowledge of their quality, finish etc. So....Quality of components. Fitting of parts Any issues with above that has to be altered. Motor bogie....how well does it run. If the builder wished to fit marker lights/destination box light any issues in doing so especially using DCC. As most kits people purchase stay unbuilt for some time I just wanted to make sure of the product as a whole before a possible purchase and putting away. Any help, info or pics would be gratefully received. thankyou Richard
  3. Hi,My subscription copy for this and Hornby mag never turn up until they are in the shops so being late is normal here. As for Layouts that have just been in other mags.Well is spoke to Mike Wild about this very subject at the NEC last year because I was seeing over a 12 month period a number of layouts being in all publications within a few months. I know the Railway Modeller does ask specifically if you have any articles for other mags. Mike Wilds reply was that they try to avoid this situation but not all people are above board about other articles in the pipeline and infact he said they turned upto to one persons to do a photo shoot and another publication was there as well. Im finding this more and more which means unless there is a few years between articles and there may be updates or a different view point I find myself reading less and less of the content.Things must be tight for layouts. Thanks Richard
  4. Hi,Well further to my postings a couple of weeks ago my Janus went back for a refund.Just didn't improve with running in or any amount of tinkering with it. Interesting pics in this months Model Rail which appeared on the door mat the other day. They do not mention it but the pics show theirs assembled the wrong way round but also something that I didn't see on mine or on other internal pics is a large capacitor fitted to the blanking plug. Also a green keeper plate underneath. There seems to have been quite a few variations on assembly with this item. Well sorry mine had to go back but I hope others are enjoying theirs. Thanks Richard
  5. Hi,well further to my post yesterday I have tried some more running with the NCB version. After several hours on rollers it still had the hesitation. So nothing to loose I tried an old Bachmann 4 function chip with an EZ command. Well runs well and no hesitation and down to a very slow speed. This chip will not fit in the body so a smaller will have to be found. But there is hope with its running qualities. I would like to see what it would be like with two fly wheels like the Hornby J15. The way the Janus pics show with the large fly wheel on one end. The other end being very small and more of a drive shaft coupling...I wonder if that makes any difference. I do have some fly wheels but im not sure if they are balance and so if may have an impact on the running qualities. Any way for now its staying and we will progress. Thanks Richard
  6. Hi,Well I thought it was time I checked my NCB one that arrived on Friday. A quick run up and down showed hesitation in running and wrong direction running. So the body was duly removed to show one large fly wheel on the drive shaft end. Now on Dagworths pics it shows the larger fly wheel and then the smaller one which contains the slot for the plastic drive shaft. I cannot see on those pics but on mine the Larger fly wheel has the slot for the plastic drive shaft. If Andis has the slot in the larger fly wheel then this would give the production line the ability to place the motor either way around and so not mattering if fitted with one or two fly wheels have been fitted. With out the body I tried the chassis which still appeared tight. The base plate on mine was screw very tight up and so was loosened off. It has subsequently now had over an hour on rollers in each direction but still has the hesitation with slow running on track. I will see if it improves or I return it for a refund. Thanks Richard
  7. Hi, It was great to see this and a fitting tribute to my old friend and work collegue. Well done to all concerned in making this happen. Thanks Richard
  8. Hi,Thanks for that information Colin. It will be good to perhaps see their model running at Warley as all the comments so far are on its appearance but as yet we havnt seen one run.I hope not but that may turn out to be another issue! Richard
  9. Hi,Thanks for that.Another one of those locos that can be abit of a mine field with lots of changes during their lifes? Richard
  10. Hi,Just looking at all these picture of both the Oxford Model and ones on the internet.Apart from differences with domes, safety valves etc am I correct in that some locos seem to have two slide bars and some just top one? Thanks Richard
  11. Hi,Some great pics being shown.Even makes my effort look good. One thing I meant to say I liked Tipham but seemed to have written Hopton. Not sure what is was thinking about at the time.Just shows men cant multi task. I think we will have to build a P4 lectern for the Captain so he can be seen around the country preaching the word of good sausages!! Thanks Richard.
  12. Hi,Well travelled back to the seaside at Brixham after an interesting and enjoyable day. Thanks to all those involved and the Captain for inviting a layout that he hadn't seen,im glad he liked it. Milton Street seemed to work well with just some DG couplings needing attention. These after all the years of using them still obtain the most questions.Still items to do on the layout but after 5 years of building it and only used twice...whats the rush. Good to see people I know and havnt seen since I worked for Bachmann. I liked Hopton and at Hobbits End we ended up having a chat about "Paul" Some other great items such as Johns new Grass Machine which has to be the best ive seen.If you can keep the grass from escaping. Simons 3d items are nice along with Justins etched works of art. Again thanks for a good day and I look forward to another next year. Thanks again, Richard
  13. Evening John,Yes I didn't see the Typhoon but boy could I here it from our place in Brixham.I did see all the red Arrows come over twice.having seen the two lancasters last w/e and having also seen the BBMF one fly over when the one at east Kirby was doing her taxi runs I was keen to see them all again.it was a shame that Vera had suffered some engine trouble in durham and then Thumper suffered a generator fault whilst prepairing to leave Bournmouth. We did see the two Spitfires from the hill further down the estuary.i managed to film them flying past but not able to see there moves over the station area. To see those four plans last w/e flying over Dawlish was a very moving thing. Glad you managed to get down yesterday. We did here the class 25 rattle past last night. Richard
