  1. 1A26 was the 13:35 Leeds-KX with a portion starting 13:15 from Hull (at the rear of the train). The train appears to be carrying an extra coach at the front and a couple on the rear from that listed in the carriage working notice. 7D61 was a Grantham-Doncaster Belmont freight 1S35 was the 14:00 KX-Edinburgh. There is a borrowed WR Mk2c BSO first coach. C4251 from the formation and fading light, was probably the 14:45SX KX-Leeds. Unusually hauled by a class 31, in theory 31418 as that was the only disc 31/4.
  2. It is not a standard Gresley buffet car as there is a half window next to the saloon door. Looks more like one of the ex-GN open third conversions that were the precursors to the standard cars.
  3. 1A36 was the 14:00 KX-Edinburgh - "The Heart of Midlothian" and should be Deltic hauled. The formation indicates it was the Saturday train and interestingly it utilised the London based Talisman set with a couple of TSO's on the back, which returned the following day on the 11:00SuO Edinburgh-KX. 1S99 is not in the WTT or carriage workings. Probably a special working.
  4. 5th March 1977 was a Saturday. C3230 - The third coach is Griddle car E1102 which indicates that the train was 1A14 08:40 Halifax / 08:53 Bradford-KX. The train wasn't usually Deltic hauled. C3232 should then be 2P70 12:04 KX-Cambridge which I believe carried 1st class (although the destination box says Baldock) C3234 should be 2B64 the 12:30 KX-Peterborough
  5. Yes, that makes more sense in terms of the types of train seen. The Mk2c coaches in J2041 are almost certainly brand new and on a test train from Derby. They did not run on the MML at this time.
  6. I think there are some directional problems. J1565 contradicts J2043. I don't know the area but I would have said the concrete sleepered track was the fast lines in which case J2043 is right and is up on the slow line. Then all the others are wrong. But I stand to be corrected!
  7. I can't see 5L43 in the WTT. However in the carriage workings a set that matches that shown in the photo (BSO, CK, 4SK, CK, BSO, 2SK) is a Saturday working - 1A43 07:00 York-KX dated 8th May to 2nd Oct. From 12th June to 4th Sept the return working is 1L11 the 11:15 KX-Scarborough. From 8th May to 5th June, and 11th Sept to 2nd Oct, it worked ecs KX-York although no time is shown - hence I would think 5L43 for the headcode (after working 1A43).
  8. I can't see anything above 1L39 on the southern end of the ECML. It is possible that Doncaster to Leeds or York services which may have higher numbers.
  9. 1S35 was the 14:00 KX-Edinburgh 1A20 was 11:15SX /11:42SO Leeds-KX (last 4 coaches 10:45SX/11:10SO Bradford portion) 1N18 was the 15:00 KX-Newcastle (the headcode has slipped somewhat to between L & M) 5L43 appears to be ecs. The stock is secondary. Maybe a special working? J2656 was almost certainly 4E35 the 13:58 Bathgate-Dagenham Dock
  10. 5L30 was the 10:50MX ecs Holloway CS to York Clifton sidings 1N18 was the 15:00 KX-Newcastle 1E11 was the 12:00 Edinburgh-KX 6N27 was the 11:55SO Temple Mills to Tees
  11. I think that your model is in fact a D.369 SLST with 12 berths and a toilet at both ends. The D.368 SLSTP had 11 berths and an attendants compartment at one end and 2 toilets at the other end. The photo in Harris is misidentified. There are several Thompson sleeper photos on Robert Carroll's Flickr site including a couple of underframe shots albeit a SLF. There are 3x D.369 photos in the Christmas 2007 issue of Modelrail. Bogie centres according to the diagram are 47ft.
  12. Depends on the date. For the May 1969 and May 1970 timetables it was the 08:10 Newcastle-KX. In the May 1971 TT it was the 09:03 Cleethorpes-KX. In May 1972 1A12 wasn't allocated. As the 08:10 was an air-braked train I would go for the 09:03 from Cleethorpes.
  13. 1E13 was the summer Saturdays 11:50 Edinburgh-KX 1L26 was the summer Saturdays 15:25 KX-Bradford (assuming it was Saturday, otherwise it was the 16:05SX) 1L21 was the 15:10FO KX-Leeds
  14. 1M28 was the 14:10 Sheffield-St Pancras if it was a weekday. However that train was headed with a BG so another possibility would be the Sunday 14:00 Shef-StP.
  15. 1E11 was the 12:00 Edinburgh-KX. Looking at the CWN and the Sept 71 date, the extra TSO at the front suggests either Mon 13th Sept, Thurs 16th to 30th Sept, or a Friday. 1E01 was the 08:00 Edinburgh-KX. The catering vehicle (5th coach) should be an RU but an RB the wrong way round has been substituted and will be in use as a 23 seat unclassified restaurant. There is an RMB further back for the buffet service. 1A13 was the 06:50SO summer dated Newcastle-KX. The leading coach should be a BSK according to the CWN, rather than the BCK seen. 1S14 was the 13:00 KX-Edinburgh. A Deltic is a bonus as it was normally class 47 hauled. There is an extra BFK leading coach. C3878 looks to be the 10:20 Newcastle-KX according to the formation Thank you so much for taking the time to scan and post the photos on this thread.
  16. 1A07 was the 07:25SX Newcastle-KX J2056 with the damaged headcode in theory should be the following 07:50 Bradford-KX, but if so should be formed of Mk2a stock. The Mk1 formation suggests 08:48 Halifax/09:00 Bradford/09:30 Leeds-KX possibly. C3400 from the formation was the 14:10 KX-Leeds
  17. 1D11 was the 13:20 St Pancras-Nottingham 1M24 was the 12:55 Sheffield-St Pancras (via Nottingham) 1M21 was the 12:10 Sheffield-St Pancras (via Derby) 1E26 was the 14:05 St Pancras-Sheffield
  18. Quite right David. Sun is coming from the west. Therefore I think it was the 15:05 Liverpool Street-Parkeston "The Scandinavian" which had exactly the same formation as The Day Continental - as seen BSO, SK, 2TSO, RKB, FO then unseen it should be 2FK, TSO, 2BG.
  19. The formation seen indicates the 10:20 Liverpool St-Parkeston - "The Day Continental" 1N22 was the 10:30 Liverpool St-Norwich
  20. Sorry, my mistake. I looked at the carriage working and in the summer months June to Sept, it was extended FO to Newcastle. As the date is May I put York without thinking! I presume it has been extended additionally for some reason.
  21. 1A20 was the 11:00 KX-Newcastle TCQ 1N74 was the 10:38 Yarmouth-York (FO in summer months extended to Newcastle) I'm not sure about 1S99. Not a usual ECML reporting code, so maybe a special of some sort to Scotland.
  22. 1A06 was the 08:05 York-KX. It appears to have have 2 RKB cars. 1L06 was the 09:10 KX-Leeds 1A10 was the 09:00 Hull-KX. A Mk2d/f FO next to the RB is substituting for a presumably non-available RUO. 1L09 was the 10:20 KX-Leeds
  23. 1M15 was the 08:55 Leeds-St Pancras (10:10 from Sheffield, where the buffet car & restaurant saloon were added to the formation). The first coach should be a BFK (rather than BSK) according to the carriage working. 1E04 wasn't a MML headcode, so probably SW/NE as identified by David.
  24. 1A33 was the 17:29 Bradford-KX 1A16 was the 09:48 Harrogate-KX - The Yorkshire Pullman (only 2 Pullmans indicates the Saturday train) 1A10 was the 09:00 Hull-KX 1S42 was the 16:00 KX-Edinburgh - The Talisman
  25. 1C76 was the 15:55 Derby-St Pancras. The formation with SK(maroon) & CK in front of the leading BSK suggest it was the SX train. 1M39 was the 12:30 St Pancras-Manchester Piccadilly
