Hi Harlequin, I have been trying to gain as much space as possible in order to replicate your design named Hampton Malstead. As the design shows an approx 2' fiddle yard I have the space (the wife signing this off, she agreed in principal, but will no doubt have a different opinion when the base boards are made!!) To give an overall length of 10' and a width of approx 2' if I need an inch or two here and there I'm sure I can find it. I hope to run a single line into a fiddle yard 90 degree to the right of the main layout, tight to the wall as possible to give me as much scenic running as possible. Do you think it could be done? I have seen many of your designs in many other threads with curved platforms etc and tbh all look interesting to operate. I have read countless threads about bay platforms and engine sheds not being "prototypical " but Lets be honest, more operational interest means more fun and enjoyment, well I think so anyway.
Would be great if you could make this design work within the space I have, don't worry about the fiddle yard, I reckon I can sort that

No problem at all, all imput is gratefully received ( to a degree!!)
I just a re look at proposed fiddle yard, not going to have 8' it will be at best 2300mm from wall ie back of main layout to end of fiddle yard. Fiddle yard therefore would be approx 2300mm less width of main base boards.
Looking forward to all ideas
Thanks

Hi Harlequin,
Looking for the fiddle yard to be 3 roads approx 8' long. Wondering if I put double slips in half way to form 6 no roads to store 5 trains, what movement I don't want to do is as the train pulls into the station, the loco can't run round without backing the train over the points, running round and backing the train back to the buffers. Ideally would like 3 coach trains.
Up to you if you want to start a new thread just don't want all the " that wouldn't happen" etc!!!
Thanks in advance

Thanks for that I really appreciate your help, with electrofrog points do i need to adapt them or use them out of the box? I also plan on a fiddle yard to the left of the layout making a "L shape" but that's another problem for another day!!!

Hi I've never had a layout of my own, had a small one my dad built. Hence no real knowledge and hence the basic questions!!!
Not planning to power the frogs as ive no idea how or why you would??
Just want to shunt and run a train out of the fiddle yard, simple snd easy. Possibly have a loco in the shed perhaps one in a siding or standing in the head shunt but certainly only running 1 train at once.
