  1. I don't see the problem its a warship class isn't it?
  2. Hornby APT buffet coaches £40 + post! no vat! https://www.modellbahnunion.com/OO-gauge/electric-train-addition-Class-370-APT-TRBS-BR-2x.htm?shop=modellbahn-union-en&a=article&ProdNr=Hornby-R40210&p=1063
  3. Yes I think I saw that one on Hatton's second hand section at about £250 but with some problems running. It is an absolute snip and hopefully the poor running should be an easy fix but then I thought well how many APTs do I really need? So well done you've got a bargain there. If you want an ndm to swap over I've got a mk1 version that works really well on eBay at the moment about 75 quid! Personally I'd go for magnetic couplings, I think they're the best things since sliced bread, I can't believe we haven't all changed over to them years ago. Also don't forget since the train is powered from the middle you'll never really going to put that much strain on the coach couplings.
  4. In the end I CBA to put a motor in my non powered NDM so got a couple of Mk2s (heavy, very nice runner, magnetic couplings compatible with westhill ones) from Germany Modellbahn union: Vat deducted price above. No vat charged this end by customs. Cost £156 with postage, so end cost each £78. Anyone want a mint Hornby mk1 NDM hardly used?😉
  5. How daft am I! 😌 - and my mother was Swiss and my father was German! (But they never taught me German!) https://www.modellbahnunion.com/e-vendo.php?shop=modellbahn-union-en
  6. Low cost Hornby APT NDM and latest Hornby 9f from modellbahn union Germany I would never have bought the latest 9f from Hornby in a million years at £250 - but at £130 i felt I could go for it. If i really hated it I could always flog it at no loss. (actually its too good for my layout and all that detail is worrying for old butterfingers me. . Still it is an utterly superb runner, blows my Railroad version away and has a glowing firebox!) Its a bit tricky to work out the exact cost of stuff from modellbahn union after the vat's taken off and postage added on and convert to £ from euros, and then through PayPals conversion but the 9f below ended up costing £129.78. including postage and someone forgot to charge vat when entering the UK.... If you open an account at modellbahn and put your address as UK it will show you ex vat prices. The latest Hornby APT NDM power cars were stupidly cheap at £70 a pop so i bought 2 and took a chance they would be under the £135 threshold. Ended up costing £156.40 or £78 each including postage. No vat so far. The other items are free gifts with the order!
  7. That triang bunch of old tat: I would have turned my nose up at that lot 50 years ago! Tri-ang Standard track? Just awful. Tri-ang Series three? Dont get me started. It's gotta be Super 4 all the Way!
  8. Great, what's the vat and customs situation on stuff from Germany?
  9. Oh dear, I do hope its not this one that I've just sold for 16 quid missing smoke deflector, no tender no motor....
  10. Look, I tried to be as honest as possible but still someone bought it! Ebay madness or what? DESCRIPTION: We all like a challenge although to be fair long ago I got sick of people trying to get me to do a god awful job by saying "Look at it as a challenge", No, life's too short mate to be doing rubbish jobs for no more money. So now I pick and choose and if it looks too difficult I say I know just the company that loves this work. Two birds with one stone, I don't have to do it and it messes up my competitors with hassley work that they'll regret doing and wont make any money. Seems to have worked I think one of them has given up. Having said that.... This is just what you should take on now that the winter nights are drawing in, to either get going by the cunning addition of a bit of wiring and a motor, or something to practice your weathering skills on. And you'll need a tender. Good luck with that, we're all counting on you. PS just looked at the photos again and realised its missing a smoke deflector. I never said it was going to be easy.
  11. WELL THEY'VE GOT ME CROSS FOR SHOUTING!
  12. Yes i saw that, he recommends using a class 91 motor instead as it has different couplings which are included.
  13. Can we now put a working motor in the spare NDM car? Are all the spare parts available to motorise the non motored NDM care, or are we still missing vital bits?
  14. The finest loco £4.50 can buy! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155717822357
  15. Nameplates stuck upside down? No problem with that, haven't we all been there? Oh. Anyone?
