  1. I hope you got a nice bono biscuit and a fresh bowl of water afterwards.
  2. Fortunately it wasn't them. Stop using them when it took them four attempts to test my eyes- took them six months to repair/find an operator for a piece of equipment. Now go direct to a chap who grinds the lenses. Saved a fortune in not having to buy 'designer' frames each time.
  3. Clearly before my time as when I attended they were green with purple lettering, but I suppose each generation likes to discover 'old things' either that or there was an offer on for green labels.
  4. Personal experience or you know someone whose second cousin was on talking terms with the janitorial staff at the said establishment?
  5. The same is often said, why are they paid that much, about people who empty bins, sweep the roads etc, but when it's suggested that perhaps they should have a go themselves they suddenly have to be somewhere else. I recall a reality television program, this is some years ago, where it was set in a cul-de-sac and the inhabitants were tasked with doing various 'community jobs' i.e emptying the bins, clearing the drains etc. Anyway it didn't last long as no one wanted to get there hands mucky the bins didn't get emptied, the drains backed up and so on.
  6. Nothing quite like a bit of self righteous indignation to make the time pass swimmingly.
  7. There's being economical with the truth my dear Bear then there's being economical with the Truth.
  8. Well it is a 'model' farm. What more would you expect than to be at the forefront of good agricultural practice.
  9. Were you 'offered' an 'inducement' (cakes I believe fall into this classification) to do that or was it an order? Concerned of Manutopea
  10. Well you know Mother Nature when she hits on a winning formula why change something that clearly works. Genetics where would we be without it.
  11. I'm afraid so. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that Manutopea has a mayor and he made the case, along with the 'professionals' for the budget to be devolved down to the regional level rather than it being left in Whitehall. But I might be wrong.
  12. Well you can either say; that explains a lot or that they were very progressive long ago. I'll leave you to decide.
  13. One of things that has changed since Manutopea went U.D.I in terms of health provision- in essence the social care & health budgets have been combined in an attempt to stop repetition of some of the bureaucracy. This has resulted things like audiology being out sourced to the private sector. Something which if you think about makes quite a bit of sense. Anyway when I went I was seen by a firm of opticians who also do hearing tests etc. Prior to this it had been in an NHS centre come library. My existing aids, NHS ones were replaced, but there were others available. The wait was about three to four weeks from requesting it so quite fast.
  14. Clear evidence of the North/South divide that. Preferential treatment obviously.
  15. Yes but if I 'borrow' them, when I'm investigated for 'damaging' council property the 'thought police' won't be able to accuse me of going equipped as I'll be able to say I 'found' them. Plus of course they'll be 'assisting' with rodent control by then.
  16. Oh hands off. I asked first. Once I've done chopping hasps your welcome to them.
  17. If only that was possible Bear but the devious, so and so's - over words are available, padlock the sodding things open don't they. If only I had a battery angle grinder.
  18. Oh you must be special as when I had it done I got to sit in a dimly lit cubicle with the rather attractive audiologist. I then had to have an appointment to check my eyes.
  19. But not necessarily in the same direction or the same size.
  20. Cabbages. Cabbages he said.
  21. Time for a bit of a rant I feel. So here we go. Now for the last two months I've being trying to get the council to do a simple job. Can I get them to do it. You must be joking. It's like trying to get a lemming not to jump. So what is this simple job. All it is is to lock two internal security gates in the main park so as to deter vehicles from driving around the park. I've tried everything short of throwing myself under the wheels of one of the speeding vehicles. What is it about people nowadays and getting them to do there job. It's like your asking them to do you a favour or something instead of them being paid to do it. Last time this happed it took them twelve months because a) they couldn't find the key to unlock the gate and b) no one in the council had any bolt croppers or hack saw. Well I'm of to stand in the middle of the park directing traffic. I might be some time as it's 'rush hour' here now that all the yummy mummies have figured out they can park outside the play area so that little Tarquin doesn't have to get his £300 trainers mucky.
  22. Leads to lot of 'Bobs Ur Uncle' that does.
  23. Yes but who for- Bertie-Jerry- Sammy or Bettie. Confused of LM
