  1. I hadn't, but it seems very useful. Thanks for sharing it with me.
  2. Apologies for the lack of updates for over a year - other priorities in life got in the way! I was given an ALn 668.3300 unit for Christmas in the Kimbo livery, and despite it not having operated from Siena, it looks the part, and I am happy with it operating on the layout. I hope to soon build the station building; it will be based on the building at Arbia.
  3. This may be very late as this is four years ago since you asked and you may have already found a solution, but there is a specific Class 166 lighting kit now available from Track3D that looks good. https://www.track3drailwayparts.store/products/class-166-lighting-kit Sorry to hijack the thread, but would it be possible to tell me which carriage the motor is in on a Bachmann 166 as I am wondering how easy it would be to convert one to a class 165. Thanks, Stan
  4. Hi everyone, As far as I'm aware, the traffic on the Powderhall branch ceased in February 2017, and the compaction plant was shut as the waste is now processed at a new facility at Millerhill. Quite a few people are campaigning for it to become a cycleway and path, but in 2020 a tunnel was built underneath the loop and the rails were reinstated following the cut-and-cover works. More info is on https://www.railscot.co.uk/companies/E/Easter_Road_Deviation_North_British_Railway/17.html Happy new year! Stan
  5. Looking very nice! I like the idea and hope the project goes well; I'm following with interest. Thanks, Stan
  6. Not a silly question in the slightest. I realised that about Italian steam services as well. As to the coal, I would hazard a guess that it came from Sardegna, as there is a massive coal mine there and one that closed recently in Carbonia (that name suggest coal because in italian coal is carbone) was used for steam coal when the locos were in mainstream use, up until the 70s. The Italian government haven't put in a rule about black smoke as of yet, but in Britain a law was passed in 2009 that aimed to prevent black smoke. Stan
  7. I was lucky enough to go to Italy again this year, and here are some photos I took. Hope these interest someone! These are also available on my Flickr. Thanks!
  8. Dear all, I am in the process of constructing a H0 layout set on the Siena-Chiusi line in Southern Tuscany. I have imagined that a link line connected the Siena-Grosseto line at Monteroni d'Arbia to the Siena-Chiusi somewhere between Asciano and Siena, and this fictional junction is called Tressa, named after a local river and inspired by the name of another local railway station, Ponte a Tressa. Obviously the traffic will be solely diesel with the odd Trenonatura steam working, running towards Asciano to use the Asciano-Monte Antico Val d'Orcia line. This will also give me an excuse to run heritage railcars like ALn 772s. At the moment, the only operable stock I have is a D445 and two UIC-X carriages however my D445 has a broken decoder pin (frustratingly) so it will be a while until I can run that again. The layout is a roundy-roundy design, which has a siding for a stone terminal (as nearby Rapolano is famous for its travertine) and a passing loop with a point to connect to the supposed Tressa-Monteroni spur. At the other end of the station, there is a short siding which I intend to model as disused. It continues into a tunnel under a road bridge. I have constructed the landscape form, with a (very) steep hillside above the station. The layout is set in Epoch VI (nowadays).
  9. I just remembered about this topic - just had a click through the past couple of pages! That Caimano is looking great, it really sets the scene! I hope the house move went well Stan
  10. Looking forward to the development of this project! I like the theme and I hope this reignites your modelling mojo! Stan
  11. Hi all, I am building a layout in HO set between Arbia and Asciano on the Siena-Chiusi line, and I was wondering how to get hold of a set of Rivarossi ALn 663s in XMPR (art.HR2426) and ALn 668.3000s in XMPR (also from Rivarossi). Sorry to hijack the thread! Stan
  12. Looks good! A company called Fratix make them but they are quite expensive at €195 for 3 coaches. Even three coaches would look good on your layout so have a think. Here is the link http://www.fratix.it/prodotto/art-fx-2209-set-thello/ as always, your decision!
  13. Have you thought about Thello coaches? I caught that service from Milan to Paris in 2010 and even in the night I could see the sea over the single track line!
  14. Oh the E656 in front would be infinitely better. Such a shame that the line from Andora - Imperia P.M. - San Lorenzo has been rerouted inland, I wish it was still there because it was such a beautiful line. It's great that people are modelling it though! I saw the E483 down at Scarlino in Tuscany for the Tioxide works down there, it was shunting when I went past on a Frecciabianca. It sure looks nice on an IC though! Looking forward to the next update! I saw that Mehano made an E444 Tartaruga too but I'm more of an HO person myself. Stan
  15. There was a company who made MDVC (regionale) coaches and E464 propelling locos a few years back, they would look really good on your superb section of Liguria, something like this.... They were called LoCo models but I'm not sure they make them anymore. I think these are available on Ebay too. Just a suggestion though, it's your layout and you choose what you put on it!
  16. The catenary looks amazing, it really looks like the GEML again. Great work and good luck with the sound on the 153!
  17. Love the great work as usual!
  18. Wow, that looks amazing! Well done to squirrel rail! It really suits the layout, good choice. Looking forward to the Pretendabellio.
  19. At last! I look forward to see it behind your Powerhaul Class 90 in the grey!
  20. Nice one! I would like to see a short video of the depot in action.
