  1. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/collision-near-thetford Not a tree, but this 170 (which the ScotRail HSTs partially replaced) was involved in a collision with a tractor. Pretty extensive damage but the cab side pillars remained intact.
  2. Vehicles 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12 and 13 are Super BGs, the rest are GUVs.
  3. One of the converted BYAs, now a BYA-O. https://www.ltsv.com/rd/photo_view.php?id=7548
  4. A 158 leaves Portlethen and continues down the long straight to Findon on its way to Inverurie. (Linked from Flickr)
  5. 22/7/21 Mk1 SO at the end of an SRPS railtour
  6. Similar to what you've mentioned, here's 9702 as part of a UTU train. Following 9702 was: UTU 999606 BUO 9806 Generator 6262 Motorail van 96608 37610
  7. http://www.hondawanderer.com/33102_Grateley_1991.htm Fitted as part of a trial railhead cleaning train.
  8. Last saw them in a possession train in August last year, definitely not the remaining ones' usual traffic though. 29/8/21 About 9 in this train behind the Coalfish returning to Millerhill from Inverurie. They had been loaded with steel sleepers to the worksite.
  9. 1 February https://www.gov.uk/government/news/train-driver-struck-and-fatally-injured-by-a-passing-train-near-west-worthing-station
  10. One of the new 'smart weedkilling system' trains, currently undergoing testing
  11. Another livery variant for the future possibly? Flickr link - not mine
  12. Split by the lamp post in the centre of the pic. The roof can be seen behind the JNAs
  13. Some examples: 14/6/21 70813 working 6Z84, an additional loaded calcium carbonate working from Waterloo quay to Workington, though this still runs most Mondays under the same code. 47854 hauling SB Rail's DR73915 with square wheels as 6Z47.
  14. Nice to see these liveries produced at last. It won't bother most people, but the colas version is slightly incorrect for the produced model in the lower tank side detail. This image linked from my Flickr shows the slight differences between the first 2 tanks. Easy to correct though and a great starting point for weathering effects.
  15. 70812 and 70808 sit in the up refuge siding at Laurencekirk during a relay possession just behind the camera. 9/1/22 70808 was waiting to be hauled back south by its counterpart after failing while working the first possession train north for this job. 70812 replaced it at the front and completed the journey, but both locos could not return south on the same train due to double heading being forbidden on the Tay bridge. 66511 took the empty autoballasters back to Millerhill instead.
  16. SB Rail Tamper DR73111 and AFM DR77001 stabled in the down sidings at Laurencekirk prior to heading to the possession at Portlethen tomorrow. 15/1/22
  17. The Belmont yard - Angerstein spoil trains that used SSAs seem to have now gone over to megabox wagons, as has the Tidal - Masborough flow. Don't think there is any traffic still using the MEA boxes anymore. The TTA/TUA tanks have now all been withdrawn too I believe.
  18. The seacow is probably dirty olive green, and the barbel ZKVs were probably bauxite/brown, although as Paul Bartlett says, most of the livery will have disappeared under rust.
  19. Following on from @Peter Kazmierczak's thread last year, what was everyone's last photo of this year? Here's mine, no train but a nice sunset at Stonehaven on my way to work. And the last with a train in it. 170452 working from Aberdeen to Glasgow Queen Street passing the site of Newtonhill signal box.
  20. Looks like 2x GWR 387 electrostars Edit: Its not, see Simon Bendall's response
  21. The last regular use of a brake van I know of was on the propelling move from East Usk up the birdport branch. That ended around 2014 when the shark was replaced with converted 20ft container on an FAA wagon. (Flickr link) There's probably a few still on operators books for now but whether any of them are usable is questionable. Propelling moves seem to be the only reason they would be needed anyway.
  22. Not so much in the landscape, but the mist coming off the basin makes a nice shot. 15/11/21 158717 in the south siding at Montrose after arriving with a service from Inverurie, with Montrose basin to the right (the north sea is actually left of this image).
