  1. Also check that the two screws that hold the motor mount are done up properly.
  2. The new range launch is live. Could Hornby only afford a monotone presenter?
  3. Have you actually asked Phoenix, or is this based on supposition?
  4. "Dear Ford, I appreciate that this Focus was nicked, but the mats are still missing. I expect you to sort it out".......
  5. The ultra serious, rivet counting, end of the hobby might carry on. However, the "Grandad buys granchild a train set, and they get into modelling" end of the hobby would seriously suffer. How many times do we hear things like train sets referred to as a "Hornby" by those who aren't in the know? Funnily enough, it's sales of bread and butter train sets that allow companies like Hornby to do the better stuff. In any event, I am reminded of a certain Monty Python moment on this thread. You're all bringing out the corpse when it's loudly protesting that it's not dead yet.
  6. X9018 is almost certainly just a typo for X9108. The latest Castle motor is X6152.
  7. I suspect they speak equally highly of you. 🙂
  8. It can be done without removing the glazing. I've done it several times.
  9. If I were you, I'd ask those people selling on the cheap exactly where they got them from........
  10. And your evidence for making something, which itself is a sweeping statement, is....?
  11. They are aware of this, and are correcting the loco to a red livery.
  12. I know we live in strange times, but has Princess Anne swapped gender, too? 🤯
  13. Last time I checked, Jan and Feb aren't in spring, but April and May are....
  14. Can someone please tell me which thread the "Where the hell is my XXXX, Hornby?" questions have moved to? I'd hate to miss out on them. 🙂
  15. I've only ordered 3 01's..... so far....

I probably have one in my spares box. I will check if I get the chance today.
  18. Is it copying if you were already designing/making the model, but hadn't announced it yet? Hornby has had to ditch other projects because they were announced by manufacturers before Hornby had done any major work on them (see Bachmann's 94xx, for example). Yes, the Titfield link should have been binned as soon as it was clear that Rapido had the licence. There is no doubting that. However, Lion was already at the design stage, if not further on, as were the Terriers, when they were announced by others. To me, the more bizarre decisions are the flogging to death of Flying Scotsman, the whole issue of how many Captain Tom 66's were made, and the attempt to carry on with the Titfield nonsense (until common sense prevailed somewhere.) Bearing in mind that Hornby plan ranges several years in advance (at least roughly), it could be several years before the last of the SK effect shakes out of their system.
  19. The way that some members of this forum continually lambast Hornby, would you want to be the one taking that abuse on the chin? I doubt that somehow.
  20. Funny that. What do the J15, K1 and 42xx/52xx have in common? If memory serves, they were all designed in the time that SK was off doing other things..... Ditto Duke of Gloucester, which had one run only.
  21. Be interesting to see what choices Hornby makes going forward, considering who had the final say until recently....
  22. I dare say there will be some Corgi, some Airfix, and some Scalextric. On here we tend to focus on Hornby, for obvious reasons, but there are a number of brands that could come in, and need to be sold.
