  3. Update 06/07/21

After a couple of months of neglect I have had a clear out on the layout, I have reorganised the whole room and added a new display shelf.

    20210706_152527.jpg.c6a0efde12a8749e17a8df644d9e18bb.jpg

I have bought a new set of drawers for storage and have reorganised all of my stock boxes and tools ad well as chucking out a load of old boxes and old craft materials.

As you can see me being away from the layout hasn't stopped the Acquisitions and I have the Bachmann Pride if Britain pack on display. I have also put my collection of shipping containers on display (C-Rail, Dapol and Bachmann)

  5. Update 01/02/21

I have decided to install some shelves for my various locos and stock, after many weeks of trying to find the solution I discovered Picture frame shelves

    20210201_183030.jpg.2e6dbbe8b22ace431f511a58f77af1cc.jpg

The ones I have selected are the ideal size for up to four large locos and or their boxes

The ones I chose are white 1200x100mm of which there are a few sizes and colours

    (Link to product)

They come with the appropriate fixings for masonry and plasterboard as well as easy to follow fitting instructions

    20210130_083856.jpg.51a53076e1f00b677da5bd7b7960e2a9.jpg

They are of a relatively sturdy construction which I am happy to trust my locos with

    20210201_184422.jpg.120abfb89582b3f79c2ff4b6ab8d8147.jpg

I have a couple of negative points which are that the finish on a couple of them isn't to the highest standard e.g. some small scratches and marks but that isn't a big deal to me because of the low price. Also one of the four shelves I bought did not come with any fixings whatsoever, although this isn't the end of the world for me as I have spare screws/wall plugs (I believe ones supplies are standard sizes)

    20210201_184536.jpg.4dbdd80e136dca9b0d68ed787e4b9271.jpg

At only £11 each and less for small/ narrower shelves I believe they are good value for money and provide ample storage for that cost

If anyone has any questions I'll be happy to answer them and also provide more pictures

  6. Fuel point progress

The road running next to the point is installed

    20210124_182919.jpg.1e640bf2a596587a766d6f9622107d66.jpg

I decided to make the hardstanding area out of concrete rather than asphalt for some variety

    20210124_182959.jpg.aedcf5eeb9779ecb8a864fc4f53d49da.jpg

I'm happy with the look of the concrete, I will paint road markings/safety lines around the are once dry

    20210124_184115.jpg.cca5e300ab788c89d55809e1eb18c389.jpg

I used AK Interactive for both surfaces as I like the finish they leave and realative ease of use

I'm open to suggestions on this area so any help Is very welcome

  9. I am struggling to think of ideas for one of my empty areas, I like the idea of it being an entrance to a rail works but perhaps with a shed. I bought and build a peco engine shed but seems a little big.

    Any ideas?20201124_201424.jpg.5443ec55d8aa0b50721124d956bc80c1.jpg

  10. Hi all,

Relatively new around here and have decided to finally share my WIP layout, I have been in to the hobby for many years and finally got a chance to create a layout of my own.

The layout is built inside a cupboard that i believe is roughly 4ft by 8ft. It is supposed to be modern image but I am happy to run anything. Its OO Gauge and DCC controlled using Bachmann Dynamis.

The main area of the layout is planned to be a Freightliner depot with Diesel locos such as Class 66, 70, 08s and electric 90s but I also have quite a few GBRF and EWS locos. Intermodal wagons make up most of the concists along with some passenger stock such as Class 153, 450 etc. The opposite side of the layout is intended to contain a station and perhaps another small yard.

I like to think it is based in and inspired by the South of England including Southampton docks and Eastleigh works as well as the main line from Southampton to London

I have a YouTube Channel with a couple of videos of the Freightliner depot (Early stages)

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn7afRMI_Pc-4hHzgtLCAiw

I have decided to build this layout in a relatively small area and intend to show that you don't need masses of space to have a detailed functional layout.

Your advice and recommendations are welcome and I will do my best to do regular updates and answer your questions
