  1. A bit more on the arrangement at the Shepherd's Bush end and relationship between the station, depot and power station (Dimco Buildings/White City bus station): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wood_Lane_tube_station_(Central_line) Simon
  2. The usual advice to form your curves around something with a smaller diameter than the curve you are trying to form applies too, especially for the initial front curve. The 4mm scale and bigger dodge of forming each half and fixing together at the front handrail knob can work, but is best used as a last resort as the whole thing is much more robust in one piece. I've done it when I've got fed up with multiple slightly too wide attempts and have resorted to chopping out the extra 1mm or so and soldering the two pre-threaded bits together at the knob. Simon
  3. I think we had this photo of 47453 Eland on here back in late 2023. It's a 1991 photo prior to 47453's transfer from Tinsley to Old Oak Common. Great mix of stock behind the C2! Thanks for continuing to highlight some interesting images Rob. Regards, Simon
  4. Test runs from Beyer Peacock to Derby were via Chinley. This is far from the only view of a test run. Actual delivery was usually via the GC, I think. Simon
  5. Perhaps ask @micknich2003 ? He was able to provide some help the last(?) time that NER reversing fear cropped up on here: Simon
  6. Looking at the current Act (CDPA 1988 with subsequent revisions) isn't the whole story. This webpage is a useful synopsis: https://www.dacs.org.uk/advice/articles/what-is-visual-arts-copyright/photographs#:~:text=Photographs taken between 1 June 1957 and 31 July 1989&text=In all other cases%2C copyright, after the deathof the photographer.&text=Where the photographer died before, the death of the photographer. Many (most) photos taken prior to 2 July 1945 will be out of copyright as they were covered by the 1911 Act. Digital copies, photos in a new setting in a book, reproduction policies of photo libraries of various sorts etc are all things to be bear in mind in addition though. Contract law is frequently more important than copyright law because of the contracts we enter into when purchasing images etc from providers like the NRM, Colour Rail etc. Simon
  7. Comparing with drawing RCH1003 on this webpage: https://www.cs.rhul.ac.uk/~adrian/steam/RCHWagons/index.html I think we should be looking just to the right of the lefthand brake safety loop. Regards, Simon
  8. https://www.rail-online.co.uk/p836482494/h278d2ebc You're making great progress with this Richard. The above shows No.2 with its doors off. Regards, Simon
  9. Izzy's progress on a new chassis for a B1 is discussed here: Chris Higgs was offering a motion etch on a one-off basis. I don't know if he is taking further orders. Simon
  10. I'd realised you both took a photo of the same 56 on the same day, but had forgotten that you were actually friends. One of the later comments suggests that using a Blythe 56 up to Oxwellmains started a little earlier than these 1986 views, during the Miners' Strike. Glad the link brought a smile to your face. Thank you for continuing to post your and your dad's photos here. Merry Christmas all! Simon
  11. This thread suggests 56s from Blythe such as this were the first to be seen in Scotland: Simon
  12. Sorry Bob, I just meant the mixed 7s were down to the renumbering. As you say, the first one is non-standard. Perhaps a Scottish practice as you suggest although odd numbers on 47/4s wasn't uncommon. 47422's pointy fours come to mind.
  13. The different 7s reflect its renumbering from 47604 by just changing the one digit. Simon
  14. Here's one for those wanting a full Provincial livery rake and a Class 45/1: Neil Harvey 156 Flickr image https://www.flickr.com/photos/neil_harvey_railway_photos/6167124463/ Simon
  15. Aside from 31101, the closest a 31 got to large logo livery that I can remember was 31413's unique livery: David Burrell Flickr image Simon
