Last little bit on this one for for the evening is a tidy up of the front and to blend some of the weathering together - 3 more to do....

Apart from the insulators the fire tanks are also too dirty so some of the weathering is stripped back, likewise along the cable run on the roof which was repainted from Hornby's orange to a more muted maroon, again before and after pics

Today's efforts have seen the first application of weathering to the roof. Basic coating with some shadows and highlights and time to leave to dry before detail painting. The Virgin livery is a good basis for weathering and they were actually pretty grotty when studying reference pics.

Here are the 4 locos renumbered and renamed with a wash going on the roof of the first one to give a comparison with the factory finish, later on applied to all 4 and left to marinate for a few days
