As no-one appears to have had one or received a despatch email, do you think there's a problem with them? Maybe soggy boxes due to water ingress into the container, just thinking out of the box. (Excuse the pun).

    Why ? Just why ?

The way AS engage with community do you really think they would attempt to hide such a thing? You trying to make people worry and cause potential reputational damage to one of the leading model producers in the country. Shame on you.

Coordinated communications is not Dapol's strong suit.

Their YouTube channel has died a death as well which is very disappointing, but that’s Dapol we still flock to them when they eventually release the models.

My mate was at Guilder and said 66 was in display case at back but very very prominent

i wasn’t on display at the show in the case or on the mini layout.

Only sign of it was a deocoratation picture on the otherwise identical paper info sheet we’ve seen for the last two years.

how’s your layout? Not seen an update recently

Coming along nicely, the channel is on hold for the moment. I’ll be doing some videos once I get a new tripod for my iPad.

I tend to post over on western thunder now since the serve issues here.

  6. Rails have all the remaining Class 60s at a reduced price at the moment, including the so called specials of 081 and the DC Rail models.

Have they sold well or will be see another flash sale like last time with models at sun £300 to clear ?

Im also a little confused as the specials 081, 006 and 033 where marketed as shop exclusives but they appeared to be open general sale before release ?

As it happens I got stopped at whitacre loop one day with fastline after a track worker reported a tail lamp ‘mid train’, it was actually just behind the loco after a run round and was left on (but switched off) so it is prototypical!

I’ve had that as well when the RHTT was “on fire” (smoke from wheel sets) reported by a COSS who was new to the railway !

Needless  to say the driver and I had a good laugh, the COSS suitably but educationally educated.

  8. I wonder if it’ll be out before the DJM O gauge version……

Excellent choice from Dapol in all seriousness though, another small engine at a very affordable price.

  9. To be fair to the units they did suffer from build quality issues from day one. Once Old Oak had got to know them they did settle down (although still not great) into traffic.

Being spread across the country into multiple micro fleets never helps reliability.

The 175s are testimony to this dedicated depot at Chester with staff who have worked with the units from day one. Solid work horses on the North & West line, and into North and South West Wales it’ll be a sad day when their withdrawn.

    Hi All,

Just a line to say 175 112 ventured to Hither Green, South East London before entering traffic all those years ago. This was to do with ride quality testing on the wonky Southern Region metals, so I was informed.

Pictures do exist, so that Rule No. 1 can most definately be used!

    Kindest Regards,

    Shed.

Also 175101 spent time on the Severn Valley Railway, so one in a steam era environment is realistic as well.

I often find, particularly in 7mm, threads go quiet when the items arrive, so any photos or film of what you get have merit although you can't beat seeing them in the flesh.

I'm not remotely interested in videos of the box, or anything anything purporting to be a review, which often seem a little self-indulgent.

I just want to see it to make my own decision and since that isn't easy around covid, anything that helps there is welcome.

Box opening videos really do not interest me either, I just tried to give an open mad honest personal opinion. Hopefully I gave plenty of clear shots of each side and end efc so people could have a good look.

But like most things in life, it’s it don’t like it move on a nothing to see here as they say.

  12. It wasn’t a review as such, like I said I’m not qualified in the field, more a personal point of view as a customer and modeller.

Bottom line was/is if your after a very good value for money O gauge wagon then this wagon is ideal for you, if your after a 100% accurate model of the real thing, then maybe you’ll be a tad disappointed and will require some work.

Id also suggest my channel, and videos aren’t aimed at the confident modeller more the inexperienced and lack confidence  like me. The channel is more a historical record for me, than a way to educate or inform to be honest. If anyone takes enjoyment from it brilliant.

An update, and humble apology will follow this afternoon via the channel.

  13. Whatever the legal standpoint is, or isn’t on this it’s just not what the hobby / industry is about. If this was a first for Hornby then maybe it could be forgiven as one of those things let the best firm win etc. But it stinks of poaching, combine with Hornbys retailer tier system now it feels like it’s all about taking money out of our pockets not progressing the hobby.

Okay, the private finance firm who own a majority stake in Hornby want their returns as it natural. But you can (well you can, they are) portraying a friendly family firm on one face, and on the other a money grabbing screw you lot on the other.

I would also say, there’s another significant battle of the Manors fast approaching with Dapol, and Accurascale - although I think maybe that was a genuine case of two firms keeping their plans quiet with the other breaking cover once the first was announced.
