  1. I was sore tempted on the BR early crest version, but with finances a bit tighter this year decided to hold pre-ordering until they were released. I was still um-ing and ah-ing, and then decided to take the plunge yesterday.

I made the mistake (depending on your viewpoint...) of looking on here first though, and ended up also ordering 1741 in the SR livery as a companion to my olive green D Class. It looks very smart in the images from Olive_Green1923 - Rails should have you on commission! 😄

I'm confident that Accurascale will make an announcement later in the year about a second run of the Caledonion sleepers, as i believe they have been rather popular with those that have them.

Now bring on the TPE's this week guys.

I would certainly be up for a second run, whatever form and bredth that takes! I was up in Inverness last week, and as I looked at the sleeper parked in the station, I began to wish I'd ordered a Highlander pack to go with my Lowlander set. Here's hoping! 😊

I've just ordered a malachite H1 for Brighton - Portsmouth running with the malachite set I have on order, there's evidence of them pre war with an H2 at least so I'm going with the assumption that it was still an operational pairing just after the war, if not who cares!

I had wondered about the typical motive power for these, and assumed/hoped the malachite H1 could be an appropriate option. I was flicking through my various SR books over the weekend, and the coaches seem to have been quite camera shy! Would an M7 or a T9 also be suitable?

I came away with the malachite version and, yes, it is missing the class markings on the brake vehicles.  Just a matter of a few transfers, though.

I also wonder if anyone can recommend a good source for these transfers?

    Thanks!

Do we have any confirmation from any source of which product code is which loco in which livery?

Hornby has it one way, and retailers have it another way?

    R30136 on Hornby:
East Anglian in LNER with LNER Number Era 3
    R30136 on retailer sites:
East Anglian in BR with BR number Era 4

    R30137 on Hornby:
City of London in BR with BR number Era 4
    R30137 on retailer sites:
City of London in LNER with LNER number Era 3

I'd gone and placed a pre-order yesterday for R30137 thinking it was the LNER livery, but this afternoon the retailer got in touch to say that Hornby had supplied them the incorrect information. It seems the Hornby website was correct and so I've switched it to R30136.

Given its pretty much the only new tooled main range steam loco and so would be likely to get a lot of attention, I'd find this kind of mistake a tad embarressing if it were me!

  5. I'm now seriously tempted by these, and am weighing up whether to go for the BRITISH RAILWAYS version, or late GWR version.

It might have been answered somewhere back in the thread, but I wondered if anyone knew how long they ran in these liveries? I'm guessing the GWR version may have still been around between 1948-1949, but I don't have any evidence to back that up. When would the the BRITISH RAILWAYS lettering been replaced by the early crest?

Has no one else received their 4S-027-003,  British Railways Sunshine Black ?

    It looks very nice.

Mine arrived on Saturday, so a few are making it out. It was actually part of an order with the SR olive green version, and I found it slightly amusing that they were processed and dispatched less than one hour apart, so they arrived in two separate parcels at exactly the same time...

I haven't checked if this is the most economical postage method at their weight and size, but it just seemed a little funny. However, as they arrived safely (minus each requiring a left rear buffer pushed back into position) I'm not going to complain! :)  I am particularly partial to the BR sunshine black.

If a shop is devoting significant space to Corgi and Scalextric, is it really what you want a model railway shop to be doing?

I might be a bit unusual here, but I have a significantly larger collection of Scalextric and slot cars than of trains and rolling stock...

For many years, I went to John Dutfield in Chelmsford to go and pick up Scalextric related items. It was repeatedly seeing all the railway stuff in there that finally inspired me to get back into model railways about 10 years ago - they helped me get my old childhood trains working again, and facilitated me getting a whole host of new models, rolling stock and accessories. I expect this crossover can also work the other way too?

Some aspects of stocking both brands can be a win-win!

Had an email today - only for a couple of generic coaches.

interestingly, I’ve also been following up on my order for all of the Coronation coaches from another supplier - Jadlam. Despite selling out in lots of places, Jadlam still haven’t had any (and have not received an answer from Hornby as to why not).

Fortunately (for me) I’ve cobbled a set from a couple of other retailers who still have them in stock.

I'm in a similar boat with Jadlam and the Coronation coaches - I did manage to recieve two about 3 weeks ago, but am still waiting for the final one I had ordered to come in.

They have been very good at replying and giving some confidence that it'll be sorted - I'm sure it must be frustrating for them too. It's been due 'imminently' since late April, and (in my experience) they've always been fairly reliable, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it'll be resolved...

Out of curiosity, is anyone willing to share why they originally chose Hattons for a pre-order rather than another model shop?

I fancied trying the 'trunk' option to combine postage on items coming in at different times. It's a good idea, but it only works if the actual orders are honoured and can accumulate!

All my various liveried Mk.4 coaches have just been cancelled, so I'm off to order some of them elsewhere... I'll pass on re-ordering the A2/2 Earl Marischal elsewhere though - I don't need it, and several other things have been announced since then.

If the shade of green is similar to other Hornby LNER engines it will be fine, as is the superb lining on the engine in photos I have seen

Sadly my version of 514 turned up with one of the eccentric rods freely dangling and not attached back to the loco... but from the look I had of it in its packaging under natural light the green did look lucious and right on in my eyes!

Although a tad disappointing to have to wait a few more days, I'm now eagerly looking forward to running it's replacement.

Looks superb! Exquisite lining, how many A2s can one person own?

How can one not buy and engine with a name like 'Chamossaire'?

It's like the n+1 rule for bikes... The correct number to own is n+1, where is n is the number you currently have ;)

Personally, can I really justify another one? No.

Do I really need another one? No.

But having now seen the pictures of 'Chamossaire', do I want another one?? Most definitely!! Always a sucker for a nice, lined LNER livery...

I believe the 2nd run is the same as the first where its made to order.

Having been pretty gutted to have missed the first run, I got my order in straight away this morning for the second run! :D

The proposed delivery date of September is a lot earlier than I had expected too, so a bonus that there is something else to look forward to in 2021.

  13. I must say, I got a super speedy reply from Michael that put my mind at ease, and for which I'm very grateful!

Now I can get back to looking forward to hearing about further updates about this project in the coming months, while patiently waiting for the chance to order a GT3 in the 2nd run... :)

Please use the email if you want a direct answer.

I had emailed three times over the past few weeks to check whether my order had gone through ok depsite nothing showing on my account section of the website, but haven't recieved a reply as yet. Is info@krmodels.co.uk the best email to use?

    Thanks!

  15. Is anyone else still having some issues with the website? I put my pre-order in last month using the payment plan option, and while it seems to have all gone through fine (from the perspective of money leaving my bank account ;)) the order isn't showing in my Order History or Transactions.

I'm hoping it's not fallen through a crack in the internet :scratchhead:

Invoice received for the first A2/3's. Expect them to be at your local model shop from Monday onwards...

Exciting news! Based on the comments/feedback/solutions posted for the A2/2s on here, I've just taken the decision to jump off the fence and get an order in for 60523 Sun Castle.

I've a half-formed plan that it may eventually become 60517 Ocean Swell, as I believe this was a more frequent Scottish visitor...and I like the name! From a cursory look at pictures I can't see any obvious differences that would prevent this, but I'm by no means an expert so I hope I'm not missing something?

  17. I'm wondering if anyone has any evidence of which A4's may have hauled the Queen of Scots in the late BR era? I've seen several photos of 60031 Golden Plover in books and on the internet over the years, but otherwise it seems to just be other A3's, etc.

I'm looking to renumber an older Hornby model of Golden Plover, which I've got a duplicate of and which has the headboard printed on the front. I'd like to keep the headboard printing if I can, and would prefer to have something that is more prototypically correct. However, if all else fails, I'm thinking about going to go for another Haymarket loco (e.g. 60012)  and using a bit of creative licence to justify it...

    Thanks!
