  1. Can anybody tell me how long the loading banks were at Penzance prior to the shed demolition in around 1987? I'm building Penzance station as it was in 1982 in n gauge. Despite searching pictures to gauge the length in terms of coach lengths there isn't a shot anywhere which shows the complete length with any clarity. I suspect the north side was slightly shorter than the south side due to the track curve on the south side and both may have held 5-6 Mark 1's? There again I'm not sure from pictures if that's short frame BG/GUV or passenger stock. I'm hoping someone here can help?!
  2. Has anyone managed to model these in N successfully? While Bachmann do a single POS RTR, I can see that BH Enterprises do some kits for POS and POT. I'm hesitant to try these kits as I've literally no idea what is involved and there seems to be nothing on the web in terms of media to visualise kit building one of these. Ideas and inspiration gratefully received.
  3. Is there somebody who can explain the visual differences between BG vehicles for me? I'm aware of NEA and NDV having different braking and different running speeds but wonder if this would be detectable on a model apart from the number on a 1980s layout? Books and websites aren't too specific on BG's...
  4. After a few n gauge Mk2d/e/f TSOs in blue/grey for my 1982 layout. Thank you.
  5. Thanks for advice so far. I have found this film clip which at 2:09 shows the interior of what I believe is an RB(R) https://www.huntleyarchives.com/preview.asp?image=1000284&itemw=2&itemf=0001&itemstep=1&itemx=1 I wonder if anybody can confirm it's an RBR and whether this is pre or post refurbishment? I understand refurbished coaches had fixed seats and improved lighting, both of which it's difficult to tell from this clip.
  6. Does this RU have an interior that I'd be able to remove and use to create an interior for the RBR 16xx I've created? I'm reluctant to buy one for this purpose in case the interior isn't suitable or removable and none of the retailers have an image of the interior either. Perhaps someone who has this coach could enlighten me? Thanks.
  7. Found it....it is a rather unappealing brown. Check out this video on Youtube. It first appears at 2.50.
  8. I think the design is the same although Harris describes the upholstery as; ' a rather unappealing brown material'..... so I suspect this may not be the actual colour unless anybody can correct me?
  9. Can anybody shed any light on the original interiors of the RMB first batch (W1803 is the one I'm modelling for 1982). Unable to find any old interior shots or descriptions regarding decor and fittings. Thanks. Christopher
  10. Can anybody tell me when W1803 was converted? I'm modelling 1982 Penzance and literally about to renumber and insert a window into my farish model E1834...when I chanced on this thread....I'm hoping it was pre '82 to save me the jointing a fillet issues....!
  11. Michael Harris talks about the colours of the Mk2 interiors in his fantastic book, but I'm unable to find any colour images of the as-built models. Can anybody provide an image of the Mk2d FO in colour before they were changed to the Mk2e rust/grey moquette also shown here?
  12. What colour were Mk1 gangway doors painted? I'm modelling 1982 blue/grey era and I've seen both white and black doors in images and wondering if there was a standard or was it regional or coach type dictated? Logistically....was it a sliding door that was locked closed when not being used? Where were those plastic/fabric curtains kept when not hung over the connection? Can anybody direct me to a cut away drawing or even better a video as to how gangways were connected and isolated? Not the couplings - I understand that but struggle with the whole connector/gangway/rubbing plate/curtain/rubber tube/bellows etc etc. Apologies for straying - I'm only paining an n gauge carriage end!
  13. Renumbering some coaches for 1982 layout and hoping someone can tell me if BG mk1's (or indeed any coach) had the regional suffix at that time? Also when did BR start marking NEA etc under the numbers to designate the BG's?
  14. So this is the Bournemouth blue with veneer panelling and original tables...so apart from the windows, is this a fairly accurate 2e interior décor-wise?
  15. Actually...I realise now this isn't Bournemouth blue moquette is it? This one ahs some yellow and green through it as well. I see from the offset door at the end that this must be a 2dbwith the larger toilet resulting in offset door and one less seat.
