I would love this in a "what if" GWR livery .. I would get two.. with sound... I am sure I would not be alone
I would run it with my 4 wheel GWR Genesis coaches that also never existed...

The re run description shows the locomotive to be "DCC sound ready". What does that mean exactly ?. is it different from the first run ?

I am planning on getting a Hornby next18 sound decoder for my rails terrier.. a wonderful olive branch moment.. No terrier sound profile yet I think.. I would like Hornby to bring out the Portishead terrier with all the sound bells and whistles.. would be a great statement of how far they have come with this model..

Thanks Johan for showing that, it looks much better than the NEMS... Just a wee bit longer and stronger maybe.
Maybe Hattons Dave may comment... These coaches are so nice and deserve great couplers.

I wonder if the Accurascale couplers (the Chaldron ones) would look nicer on these coaches. They are sold as a separate product. ?

Some of the pictures on this thread are fantastic and very inspirational. I am going on a quest to get the tension lock couplers off it. I love how its modeled with the hole in the coupler hook... Was that deliberate ?.. I know being plastic it can't last..
Gonna attempt the hook and link thing. Who makes the best hooks and links ? Brassmasters ?

Great topic regarding the Edwardian GWR buildings.. anyone have any more recent modelling pictures or updates regarding station paint colors of the period ?..

Great.. Train O Matic .. maybe Jenny K can do us a Youtube tutorial on light tweaks for our coaches..

Anyone put a decoder in that dims the lights and ideally makes a realistic oil lamp flicker for the GWR ones. I have the basic Hattons next 18 one which installs like a charm but may not have the capability to dim.. or maybe I dont have that capability to make it.

thanks for all your input fellas on my daft Victorian-Edwardian comment. I agree they look pretty similar in old pictures and it just comes down to the cut of their jib..
I am also looking at trying a 18 pin DCC Concept decoder that can reduce the light in the coach and apparently can also produce an oil lamp like flicker... its pricey but thanks to you all I never have to buy a station platform again... all ground and low level from here on out.
maybe I can make it so prototypically dim in there I can put the Modelu ghostbuster figures next to Brunel in the 3rd brake and nobody bats an eye.

Thanks everyone for all the responses to my question about the ground level platforms.. This is a fantastic forum.
Anyone know the cv (if there is one) to reduce the light intensity inside the carriages. I used the Hattons 18 pin.. super easy to install. Checked the Hattons DCC page but doesn't list it. I found taking off the roof easy also if you start at an edge with a fingernail and work across.
The lighting is nice and bright and really shows off the interior.. won't get away with shoving Victorians and Edwardians in the same compartment ..

really great coaches. Worth the wait.
So, the single footboards that come with it are for a later period, I assume with platforms already in place at the stations, the double are earlier when you had to exit at ground level sometimes at some rural halts maybe .. Am I thinking correctly.?

Can anybody recommend a Vallejo paint or mix for the chocolate brown of GWR station carts, benches etc.

Are iron mink vans a similar dimension to the released gunpowder vans.
I just received my GWR gunpowder van and I have to say its maybe the best wagon I own so looking forward to more offerings... Its a tiny little thing and not much longer than a Hornby 4-plank wagon.

A week ago I had never heard of the word Chaldron never mind the wagon...
but I am slowly learning... a couple of questions (excuse if ridiculous.)
would these be used to transport from collieries to branchlines as well as ports etc for example private coal merchants .
also option of unmarked and numbered ones may sell well.
I am also curious which of the 1890-1920 timeframe would be most popular and likely for a second run.
I picked up a black generics Hornby Lillishall Peckett for no reason and I am hoping I now have one. I think its for around 1900ish and may be alright with these wagons.

"a common outline, for the transportation of coal, brick, timber, stone and ‘muck’ across the North East of England."
I think I can model most of those loads ... muck in 00... not sure if Im up for that.
incredible idea Accurascale... hope you sell cauldrons of em .

Thanks for that. My Hattons 4 and six wheelers can squeak in then.. Gonna historically shoehorn a Bachmann Earl to pull them, maybe that's too cheeky. which I think puts me at best 1936.. ...

Any info on the type of DCC chip needed for these coaches. I am getting the GWR ones, can I assume they would not be very bright and hopefully it can be adjusted down. When did coaches typically switch to gas lit?

I just got my Exe, sound fitted. Same issue with the smoke box, seems ok though. I did find the whistle unattached on mine and laying in the box. I do wish it was metal, I think I know generally where it is supposed to go but cannot find a hole to attach it again...
Incredible model, heavy as a brick and I am looking forward to the coaches.
