  1. “This event is being organised by the Austrian railway group this year, responsibility for future years will be pass to each society on a rota basis.

Society stands from the Austrian, Swiss, Italian, German, French and Scandinavian groups will also be present.”

This would seem to be an extremely interesting and positive initiative in continental modelling in the UK - a new annual exhibition with the country societies alternating its organisation. This would ease the pressures on each individual society to arrange its own annual exhibition, by instead moving the direct responsibility to once every six years among the above six societies. Good luck to all involved and hope that this idea gets wider publicity and strong support - including a mention in Continental Modeller magazine?

I trust that the venues have easy parking and/or proximity to railway stations. Could there for example be a return of the German Railway Society’s GlobalRail show to the well located Didcot Civic Centre? Indeed, would ‘GlobalRail’ be an appropriate promotional title to develop continuity for the proposed new annual event?

I was sat in a Pendolino which departed Central 30 minutes late because the driver got stuck in traffic in a taxi between the depot and the station.  The guard announced that it would be within 15 minutes by Warrington which was wishful thinking as no sooner had it departed the station and it was sat behind a slow moving train which kept it on cautions till Motherwell I think.  So a Delay Repay for me which will pay for my tea.

Would that Pendolino have been 1M18 17.30 Glasgow Ctl to Euston? I wondered what happened as RealTimeTrains showed its departure as 17.55, then the delay increased all the way south, arriving EUS 52 minutes late at 23.19 3/4.

  3. C126 - you are a star, thank you so much for posting those photos. I will get to RISEX next year!

Wow, Tamzynowo Wlk looks very impressive, the detailing certainly creates an effective atmosphere of its geographical setting. All credit to the owner - and looking at how the displayed baseboards end, I assume there could be further sections. I hope there will be another opportunity to view this layout somewhere.

Your earlier post mentioned the “handsome loco.” I am collecting information on Polish railways and that appears to be an ET22 Co-Co electric loco used for both freight and passenger traffic; probably PIKO HO gauge.

Thanks to all for the lovely day out yester-day.  In at 10.00, first (paying) customers of the cake/refreshment stand we were told, and stayed till 14.30 (not just by the cakes).  Broad selection of excellent layouts giving much inspiration.  Everyone friendly……..I fell in love with the handsome loco on Tamzynowo Wlk, thus:

The stock looks like OO because of the huge loading-gauge, I assume.  Another spectator agreed with me the scenery looked wonderful.

Thank you all for the hard work in organising it.  Hope others including @ModRXsouth enjoyed themselves as much as us and you all got home safely.  I will make more of an effort to get to the Stoke Mandeville show this year.  Best wishes to you all.

    To C126 and Gazzaday -

Frustratingly, a sudden domestic issue on Saturday morning prevented me attending the show so I missed seeing Tamzynowo Wlk in particular. Any chance you or anyone else could post further photos - will it be appearing at another show? Any information appreciated - thanks again.

  5. I am thinking of attending RISEX on Saturday. First time to this show but looking into the travel time and costs by car or rail from Surrey, so can anyone please clarify the parking costs at the venue? The car park does not look very big in Google maps so are there restrictions in local roads?
Also could anyone provide the name of the Polish layout as it was unclear in the RDMRC’s video. Thanks for any help to encourage a new attendee!

    Hi,

i tend to use humbrol matt 64 sea grey colours for tower colours..

Thank you very much for that pointer. EBay has provided me with some N gauge 3D printed floodlight towers so have been pondering a suitable paint for a metalwork effect.

The pools of light created by your towers in the photos is very atmospheric.

  7. Looking forward to the Sudexpress EuroDual appearing in N gauge. The photos are very helpful; the DB red version looks very smart, but the dramatic red and black livery of the Erfurter Bahn Service loco is eye catching.

I wonder if they will also do the corporate blue and white EuroDual livery - not sure if that actually existed? Just Googled and found that there was an initial loco with a blue and white ‘mountains’ livery. Demonstrator liveries is an interesting aspect. I have a Hobbytrain Vectron in corporate white Dual Mode livery, a Hobbytrain G2000 in Vossloh green/blue and Brawa Class 261 in Voith blue and grey. They can be run as ‘on test so go anywhere’ locos so rather useful!

“Anyway, as a starter, some photos of the boards. That's more than enough for an opening, more to come if you are interested.”

Yes please, keep posting as this looks a very interesting project. In photo two, is the big black box a Z21 controller, and is signal reception OK being underneath the baseboard?

Thank you again for the timetable extract to answer my Waterloo 0505 question. Bristol TM 0133 then no passenger stops until Waterloo 0427 - presumably a crew change somewhere.

Do you kindly have a link to the relevant Network Rail website for the historic timetables. I tried and could only see a mention of timetables since 2008 so I must be overlooking something to get further back to 1994.

  10. AY Mod/Andy’s introduction mentions -

“In total there are 15 CAD variations available, and while in the first run of models not all of these will be used it is intended that new 66s will be added to the Revolution roster in an ongoing program of annual releases.”

Does this raise the opportunity to finally welcome some missing Class 66 liveries to N gauge? Please consider the London Transport pair: 66718 Sir Peter Hendy CBE with LT Museum design and 66721 Harry Beck with Tube map - complicated graphics but would surely be very popular.

Also supportive liveries: 66769 Prostate Cancer UK, 66723 ZA723 with Chinook chopper logos, 66113 Key Workers, 66099 We stand with Ukraine and 66708 Glory to Ukraine.

Projects: the Euro Cargo Rail batch (66033 please!), 66136 Yiwu China - London Container Train, 66796 HS2, 66004 Climate Hero all over green.

There could even be a fundraising opportunity by offering very limited edition- for example, 66739 The Bluebell Railway only to BRPS members. Or extend the exclusives idea to a fake livery - anyone for a 66 in two green or LoadHaul (it looked great on Class 50 50035 Ark Royal - !)……!?!?

Many thanks for the timetable extract for the London Waterloo to west Wales and Manchester services - very intriguing! Do you also have the extract for the reverse services into Waterloo?
I am wondering about turnaround - how long between the Class 158s arriving and departing Waterloo? Also where the unit for the 05.05 departure came from - did it stable overnight at Waterloo or Clapham Junction, but what about taking on diesel?

I remember seeing Ginsters liveried sets at Clapham Junction on the Waterloo-Wales service operated by Wales & Borders back in the day, they got everywhere. They would complement the impending Bachman’s SWT CEP and Hornby SWT VEP nicely. Not my modelling era but really tempting all the same. Great choice!

A London Waterloo direct to Wales service - can anyone help with its route? I have seen mentions of Milford Haven and Carmarthen, but via where, and were the services just a single Class 158?
This has captured my curiosity, having now seen photos of the Ginsters branded units at Waterloo and Clapham Junction - hoping this livery might get to N gauge on the new Graham Farish 158…….

  13. Thank you very much 31A/Steve.

I have quickly skimmed through that VBN link to the English wording including FAQs but will re-read more fully tonight. However, it seems that the ticket is based on buying by the 10th of a month (A) for use from the 1st of the next month (B), then cancelling before the 10th of that month (B) to stop it automatically renewing for a second month (C) - or am I missing something?

Dresden is a wonderful city, Leipzig is very nice too.

Check out the Deutschland Ticket, you can sign up using a couple of local transport apps and cancel it after the first month. The first ticket is prorated and as I was there at the end of September, I traveled from Berlin to Leipzig and back, and all round the area for three days, for less than ten euros.

How do you do that from the UK? Any process steps appreciated - many thanks.

    Hi all,

There is more information about the N decorated samples on the Revolution Trains news page.

    cheers

N gauge livery samples - Network SouthEast

Viewed the NSE saloon and note that this N gauge sample displays the correct NSE branding - the letter ‘t’ is squared off. The letter spacing also looks better so really looking forward to this model arriving in 2024.
