By the way, Jacob, Acton Burnell Castle is one of my very favourite English Heritage ruins, which I've visited from time to time ever since I was a small boy (we lived in Shrewsbury for a while around 1970).

Yes, it is quite lovely - especially on a nice day. Remarkably intact given the Parliament barn in close proximity.

What do you suppose D332 to be? There is a gap in the surviving diagrams between D331, the one-off gun truck built to Drg. 3183 as lot 466 in 1899, and D333, the moderately numerous (for a special) traction wagons of Drg. 708, built 1887-97, mostly.

The 40' bogie brake composites of Lot 69 as sold to the S&MR.

Rolling stock isn't really a specialty of mine, apologies for being unclear.

    Many thanks,

    Jacob.

  3. This project sounds very interesting, Tom, looking forward to seeing more.

I hope you don't mind me asking, but will 'DUKE' be depicted with the flat running board as seen below,

or with the stepped running board as seen here?

    Kind regards, Jacob.

Although I've not been feeling 100%, I decided to start the tree work.

After some experimentation, I realised to try and depict that late November look, the actual seafoam as it comes looks about right.

My only niggle is the colour of the stems, so I'm going to try running some thinners of a grey/brown colour down them.

Absolutely stunning. The crossing, the dirt road, 'Ta'n Ushtey', everything really, simply looks real.
    Really inspirational modelling.
    Cheers, Jacob.

Just been able to look up the Metropolitan Railway 1932 diagram book.  This gives the F Class 062T rear carrying wheel diameter as 3' 6".

Added note:  Now found the drawing with table of sizes and scrapping diameters.  Confirm 3' 6" for the F Class 062T carrying wheels, scrapping diameter 3' 3".

The E Class 044T bogie wheel is 3' 9 1/8" diameter, scrapping at 3' 6 1/8", so would be worth care and checking wheel sizes before making a commitment with the model.

Hi, many thanks for that, it's very useful information. Would I be correct in assuming that all four F classes carried 3' 3" wheels before withdrawal then?

    Cheers, Jacob.
