The address in the Z21 app for the Z21 Interface should be the address for the DR5000 WiFi which IIRC is the 192.168.16.254 - you be able to see it in the DR5000 DHCP page
Yep, all checked and correct. I'm still baffled.

I am aware that there are issues with the latest Z21 app when used with a DR5000 but I thought they were limited to reading and writing CVs - I wonder if this issue is another one in the list?
When you look in the DR5000 does the Z21 show up as being connected (check the DHCP), do you have the port set to 21105, and have you entered the DR5000 address into the Z21 app as the Z21 Interface address?
if it yes to all of these then not sure where to go from here
I'm utterly baffled.
DHCP is enabled, port is set to 21105, and the address in the app is set the same as the PC which connects fine.

Thanks for the advice WIMorrison. I shall plug the DR5000 into the PC over the next few days and see what I can do.
And thanks for checking your app Melmerby
hopefully I can rectify it when I plug the laptop in.

So a quick update:
If I disconnect my phone from the DR5000 WiFi network then the app works fine (albeit it doesn't move any trains) but when I reconnect it to the WiFi then it stops working properly.
As for exporting the layout, I'm not sure how to do this. I know I can export the loco's details individually but can I do them en mass?

Android or iOS?
It could make a difference.
Android.
I'm tempted to uninstall and reinstall but I assume I'd lose all my data in doing so.

Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with the Z21 app. Usually when you increase the throttle, the coloured bar goes up in line with power. Same with when you press a function, it doesn't light up. I can also only run trains in one direction as the change direction button doesn't work.
I'm running Z21 version 1.3.8 with a Digikeijs DR5000.

Hi.
I didn't draw up any plans I just made it to fit around one of the boxes.
Boxes are of the 10l size which are marketed for A3 paper size. I have allowed 510mm depth, 350mm width (could probably have got away with 345mm) and 90mm in height. The aluminium angle used is 7/8 inch square.
Total dimensions including framework are 550mm deep, 1150mm wide and 950mm high, having expanded it to take the 3 extra boxes I have cut 90mm off the legs so it is still the same overall height it was beforehand.
Hope this helps
Dale
Absolutely brilliant.
As I say, it all looks like superb craftsmanship so far

Good Evening
A couple of bits and bobs from the last fortnight.
The Stock box rack rebuild has been completed and I am much happier with it.
And onto something new, backscenes.
I wouldn't be lying by saying the backscenes on the old layout were a bit of an afterthought compounded by making them out of the last couple of warped sheets of ply in stock at Trago Mills. Not so this time.
This time they will be mounted to a lightweight frame screwed to the top of the board, the backscenes themselves will be made of 6mm MDF.
I have started to work on a track plan (Lining paper in above picture) but its not finished yet although the basic principle remains the same as the old layout.
Dale
That's a brilliant storage rack you have made. Is there any chance you can share the plans? I'd be interested in making something similar.
I may also steal your idea for the back scene. I never thought about a back scene when I put my boards and it would be a tad difficult to put it in now as an after thought.
It's looking great :D

Do we have a date yet for the official closing? I'm thinking of making a trip next week.

Morning all,
I'm looking at modelling HST Barrier 6339 however I can only find the one photo on Departmentals.com
https://www.departmentals.com/departmental/6339I'd like to know if anyone has any more detailed photos of this showing where numbers are positioned and also what the text on the side says.
Cheers

Some absolutely superb modelling here and I'll be following this thread so I can hopefully use some of your ideas on my own layout

Fantastic information to read as I'm currently doing research for my own layout.
This is another request for brand guidelines for any part of Northern Spirit/TPE or their successor Arriva Trains Northern. If no one has any brand guidelines, would anyone happen to know what fonts were used by these TOCs? I seem to have found that ATN used Arial Bold on the side of their loco hauled stock, was this consistent across all their stock?

Cracking setup you have here.
I was wondering if you would be willing to share the dimensions you've used for your JXA wagon? It seems like an interesting project.

Problem solved

Sorry to drag up an old thread but these are very impressive. Keep up the good work as it has given me plenty of ideas

Having ummed and arred for a long time, I've sent off for the initial Komatsu excavator. Let's see how long it takes to come.
Last time I used Atlas was for the initial Eddie Stonart fridge lorry. They sent me that along with a curtainsider and tried charging me £9.99 for both. I paid £2.99 as that was what they info said so I was quite happy at two lorries for £2.99. I'm not paying for their mistakes

I always refer to my railway room as my Great Escape, so perhaps this is more what you need:
That looks like a good idea. Board up the shed door and dig a secret tunnel from the cupboard under the stairs into the middle of the shed

When I worked with Network Rail at the S&T we were always told don't mix different types of insulation on wire including rubber due to the corrosion that may happen.
Looking great so far Jim

Looks brilliant Jim. I'll certainly be pinching ideas for my own new layout (when I get round to dismantling the current one).

I'm still at the very beginning stages of reprinting and detailing models (the crying when things go wrong stage) but this thread and your work has been a true inspiration as to how I can improve my own models and the little details that I need to look out for.
Keep up the great work as it really is amazing.

That 375 looks great. May I ask what colour yellow you used for the doors?

Looks fantastic. Very well done to you

This looks like it will be fantastic. I am watching with baited breath to see each stage progress.

Some fanstic bits and pieces on here James. I have followed the Electrostar project since you first posted about it on your Wells Green TMD site and it has inspired me to make my own. So far.... nothing has been done, but it will happen eventually.
It is great to see your work as I like to pinch ideas
Keep up the good work

Bachmann Summer 2023 Announcements
in Bachmann
Posted
I can't say there was much that interested me in the latest announcements apart from the 144 in WY Metro livery however due to the ever worsening cost of living crisis, I can't say I can afford one.
Sadly with rising costs, manufacturers have put their prices up so that they can keep making a profit and keep making models but it is driving those of us who can't afford new models out of the hobby.
All being well, one day I will return to buying new but for now it has lead me to learn to paint models myself for cheapness.
I know it's the same old ground but maybe one day the manufacturers will find a solution to bring the cost down to allow the common man to enjoy the hobby once more.
Bachmann are a super manufacturer with high standards but I am also a tad scared I'd break their models these days.
Either way, theirs my two pence with my freedom of speech power 😁
God bless
