  1. Excellent work as always Dave. When I first drew the model I had no thought of selling them, I only drew it because there is a drawing of one in the wagon book. Certainly not the easiest model to draw or print! I had a lot of issues with the dog box end drooping down, still not perfect but it was about the best I could do. I was a little concerned about the buffers too. Unfortunately there isn't anything available and whitemetal castings just aren't going to be viable for the low quantities were are expecting to make. The plan for any future models would be to use castings from 51L just as we do with the rest of the TLM range. Hopefully the next True Line Models kit will be something a bit simpler! Ross
  2. Very much looking forward to these. Good to see a mainstream manufacturer taking an interest in Scottish railways.
  3. Thanks for the pictures Andy, very nice looking models. Presumably the white panel in place of the toplights in the centre of the coach is a destination roller blind? I'm planning on running mine as an excursion set so was wondering if perhaps something like 'SPECIAL' or 'EXCURSION' could be displayed. Not being a GWR modeler I'm not sure if these coaches ever were used on such workings but there are accounts of GWR excursion trains running to Glasgow in the pre-grouping era. A little bit of modelers licence may be required!
  4. Excellent work as always Dave. Nice to see something a little different.
  5. Excellent work as always Dave. Didn't take you long to build those!
  6. Another excellent announcement! Just an observation on the CR van (definitely not intended as a criticism). Caledonian Railway Wagons by Mike Williams lists the wagons as allocated to Stevenston rather than Stevenson. Not that that would put me off buying a couple.
  7. Excellent news, well done Rapido! Good to see some Scottish traders wagons announced.
  8. I have both Caledonian versions and I'm very impressed with them. As a pre-grouping modeler I know the time and effort it takes to paint an engine in period colours so for me it was a real treat to be able to take these out of the boxes and place them straight on the layout. Some people have been complaining about the price of these but I would consider £200 to be a pretty decent price for models of such high quality. Hopefully we'll see more Scottish pre-grouping models appear in the future (hint, hint!). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulwAwii5YyY Ross
  9. Excellent video Jenny. Looking forward to them arriving. Ross
  10. The buffer covers seem to be the only unusual feature of the wagon which could cause problems although some CR and LNWR open carriage trucks had similar fittings. The Caley did have lists of individual wagons which were banned from specific sidings but they tended to be large trolley wagons or other specialist heavy wagons which couldn't negotiate tight curves. The unusual branding would be enough of a reason to build a model of it but unfortunately its the reason why it couldn't run on my layout!
  11. Thank you for sharing that short video clip, I never thought I'd see a pre-grouping train in motion in such clarity.

    2021 hopes

I'm hoping for a bit of Scottish pre-grouping, perhaps a Caledonian Class 439 0-4-4. Long lived, fairly widespread, plenty of liveries and a preserved example. An iconic engine that would be an ideal companion to the Rails/Bachmann Class 812 and hopefully lead to further models.
  13. Hello My Heljan container crane has started showing a short as soon a power is applied. Afer investigation it appears that the decoder in the gantry is the problem. I know spares for these are pretty much impossible to find, does anyone know of an alternative? The decoder controls three motors, and electomagnet and a set of spotlights. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ross
