    Hi Graham, looking forward to seeing this, do you thing Hornby will ever bring this version out or worth doing the same if I'm after this version? 

    I'd be looking to make 35002 Union Castle painted blue as didn't have cab modified till 1954.

    Graham,

    What would be involved additional to the smoke deflectors to make this a later series 1? 

    I'm assuming RT models would have the parts needed. 

    I am hoping Hornby's next move is the later version series 1 as they look the business, if not I will be looking at doing the same.

  3. Just for clarity the brake composites only apply to the 64ft versions not these 59ft versions that are the being produced by Hornby and the proper topic of this thread.

    With respect to the 64ft versions just because a manufacturer did not include them in the initial announcement but opted to go for versions to make correct full sets does not mean they are not aware of the loose version for the future. Sometimes we just have to be patient rather than expect everything in one go ( it’s taken many months? conversations, planning, justification and research to get to what we have announced by all involved to date)

     

    It is great that the 59ft versions will be made as I had always expected to be building these from kit. I was over the moon with hornbys announcement. 

  4. The loose brake composites were to diagram 2406 rather than 2405 as used in the 2 coach R Sets (as being produced by Bachmann). The interior was different on the loose coaches with the toilet located in the middle of the coach rather than the end.

    Thanks Graham and Tavy Man, hopefully Bachmann will bring out the 2406 or maybe if its just the interior detail its something a bit of modelling can resolve with vent positions etc. were the windows the same position if toilet was moved?

  5. The announced 64ft Brake composite by Bachman is the version that were paired with a Brake third to make the two coach R sets these differed slightly to the ‘loose’ versions used on the multi portion West of England services.

    I am interested in putting together an ACE West of England service, do you know what diagram was used for the 'loose' coaches?

    I was hoping the new Bachmann BCK's would be suitable.

As a fellow southern modeller i have been enjoying following your forum, I built this S15 kit and found that the wheels of the bogie hits the inside of the cylinder on tighter radius and turnouts. The bogie would tilt to start with then bounce of the track. I filed down the inside of the cylinder and motion bracket to improve clearance. The other option i had was to down size the bogie wheels as Hornby did on their King Athurs to make more room.

  7. each to their own i say, i really like the J94 and character of the industrial saddle tanks especially peckett types which were also used by the GWR. there is a simple and a almost cuteness to their designs especially seeing them in the flesh. Quaiton has a large collect of industrial engines if anyone is interested.
