  1. Appologies Mike, what I mean is two part polyurethane resin mixed in equal quantaties. That is what seems to be happening. The instructions say to leave it for 24 hours. But I usually leave it for 48 and still get the bubbles.
  2. Hi, recently I've been experimenting with epoxy polyurethane resin! All goes well untill I paint it. But then after a few days of exposure to light/heat the paint bubbles. Initialy I thought it was a reaction between the clearcoat and the paint, but after having tried all sorts of combinations of paint and clear I still get the same results. I've tried acrylic, waterbased, and enamel products. I usually leave the resin a day or two to cure. Should I wait longer? or am i missing something? As always, thanks in advance.
  3. Maybe that's why I had the vague feeling that I actually may have already asked the question a while ago. Just wanted to report that I finally got my hands on my APT-E just a few days ago. It's very nice (shame about the mold lines on the nose though) and I'm really pleased with it. So I'd like to take the opportunity to say thanks to you, Kit, for the enthusiasm and availability. I'm sure that without your input this model certainly wouldn't have been as realistic. Thanks also to Sandra at Shildon. Got there in the end, although it would have been nice to have recieved an update/invitation to pay the balance when the models became available. For a couple of weeks I felt as if I wasn't sure if I was actually going to get mine, but Sandra reassured me all was well. Lovely packaging and presentation of the model. Come on Rapido, HST Prototype and Class 89 next please!! Right, all said and done, I can now get back to my coffee and reading the rest of the fantastic booklet that came with the APT-E
  4. Quick question, did the APT-E ever make it past Bristol? If so, what about beyond Exeter?
  5. That would be nice, but no, i mean I havn't been asked to pay the balance yet. So I'm wondering if my order may have gone lost or something.
  6. Is anybody else still awaiting their APT that hasn't paid the balance yet? I contacted Locomotion last week but still havn't recieved a reply. Begining to get worried.
  7. For a moment I thought the second and third photo of the 59 were real! 59005 shouldn't have the bell though.
  8. Thank you gentlemen for the nice comments, much appriciated Just to confirm, that is indeed 47406 "Rail Riders".
  9. Few more photos as promised........
  10. Just the one for now (flat battery in the camera). More to come soon.......
  11. I agree, an information sheet would have been useful. There are four clips on each side that clip into the glazing. So, first of all, try to seperate the step handrails (both mine broke); turn it upside down; use some force to pull the coach sides outwards; insert a couple of bits of card between the chassis and the body and it should then just fall off. As for the detailing parts Tigger has explained it in post #193 on page 8 of this topic. By the way, I'd like to paint/detail the inside of mine, so I was wondering if anybody has any photos of the interrior of one of these coaches?
  12. Last one of SNG. Hope to get back to the more mundane stuff next time
  13. Thank you Sir, coming from you that is the most highest of compliments! I seem to remember there was a bit of a GW line up at 81a in 1985. If I'm not mistaken they had 3 green Class 47s and 50007 Totally agree with you that 47079 wasn't the best choice, given it's limited time frame and the fact that it can't really be renumbered due to it having a diffrent headcode arangement from the other green ones. I'd been undecided about getting one for years. I was quite decided on going for the Heljan one but was never really able to find one at the right price. However, a few months ago when Kernow sent out their newsletter announcing they only had a few left I decided I may as well get one. So it seems I may very well of grabbed one of the very last ones! I'm really pleased because it sure is a beauty! I've always wondered, but never been able to find any photographic evidence, if they ever lined up all 4 green Class 47s, that is to say: 079; 484; 500, and 628
  14. Thanks for the comments gentlemen First of all here are some photos of an A4 I've recently been working on. This started of as a Mallard and a seperatly sourced beaded corridor tender. The art deco letters/numbers were removed and etched ones added. I then proceaded to detail it accordingly. And finaly the valances were removed using Simon's excellent valance removal tool, visable here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/63137-Hornby-a4-de-valancing-conversion-kit-messers-harvey-martin/ A few close ups of the various bits of detail on my SNG..... Now to some other little projects I've been working on reccently..... Mark (aka Ascension) this is the 08 you sold me, which actually was a Bath Road allocated machine in the late 1980s. 47079 in this livery would be slightly out of my time frame, but for such a beautiful beast an allowance can be made. Disappointingly the glue reacted with the "glass" when I was affixing the sunvisor. A new windscreen has since been sourced. This Class 47 was a bit of a bargain. It was somewhat battered and missing quite a lot of parts, but for 30 Notes it made a nice little project. As can be seen I've rebuilt the cab cut aways and have renumbered it as 47625 City Of Truro, incidently another Bath Road allocated machine. And finally just some generic photos taken around the depot..... That's all for now folks!
  15. Just gone throuigh the last 20 pages or so. There's some realy amazing stuff on here! I really like the roundhouse and the Swindon works ones. Incredible!
  16. A few reccent photos........ departmental Class 33 waiting it's next turn..... Little project I've reccently been working on. More about this can be found here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/54106-first-dozen-or-so-class-37-detail-diffrences-quick-question/ 47 line up. An old favourite I decided to model. 47004 in 1994 condition. Distinctive NSE/Scotrail 47706 NSE 47715 47805 "Bristol Bath Road" herself! Royal train 47834 Battered 47706 A more detailed view of the weathering on 47706 50036 "Victorious" 4468 "Mallard" making a breif appearance. Long summer evenings...... 47710 visits. This is actually a reworked Lima Class 60 I never liked the weathered version of Edward Elgar. However, with some etched plates and a properly weathered chassis it seems to be not too bad. I still don't understand why Hornby portrayed it with a filthy body and underframe yet with a pristine roof! This is a project I've been working on reccently. I've already put about 100 hours into this, although it's not quite finished yet. I have a fealing this one may well be my opus maximus! More about this next time.....
  17. I think PHD Designs do 50031 did not come with a certifficate. Nor did the weathered version of 50007. The only Class 50 to come with a certifficate was 50149.
  18. Looking great! Is this going to stay based on the GCR or will it be going back to the NRM when not in use?
  19. A few old photos which I don't think I'd posted before....
  20. I reccently found out I had two models of 50004 in large logo livery. So I had a little think of what I could do with the "spare" one..... And decided on 50046 in 1990 condition, which was one of the better 50s in my oppinion. I actually did have a model of 46 in large logo livery with black roof but unfortunatly it was stollen from me a few years ago I would have liked to have this one professionally done, although as I havn't been able to get in contact with my renumbering/weathering man, in the end I decided to have a go at it myself. Just for the record, I only repainted the roof (matt black areosol paint from Halfords) which I carefully masked. The numbers were removed with T-Cut, which left a bit of a shine. Weathering was achived using both acryilcs and enamal paints. Although not perfect, I'm quite happy with the end result. Now I can start thinking about which Class 50 I want to do next! 50046 with 50031 Had a bit of a large logo Class 50 line-up 50004 50046 50036 and 50031
