  1. Just read on planet F1 that Liberty may want to ditch F1 partially or completely .Makes sense,Maybe Bernie will return.who knows
  2. Mine was only 6 years old and 9 were imported .Mine was originally used by Shell.I kept looking at the one in the Science Museum wondering if I could nick some bits off it .I didnt lose money when i sold it and years later my cousin bought it back and restored it.His father was one of the original classic car restorers in the 60,s.Unbelievably the rotor seals I needed were make in Seven KIngs near where I worked .They had boxes full from cancelled NSU orders but kept them just in case...doh .NSU could have told me .I still have the sales brochure .
  3. I suspect I have owned one car no one else has .An NSU Wankel Spider.Nice little sports car until it went wrong and NSU didnt support spares as its 2000 run didnt require it ...doh
  4. I owned an Xr3 and an XR3i.The XR3 was one of the first German built ,4 speed box and a big carb .The exhaust went and I managed to get the last genuine ford 4 speed box exhaust in the country .It had been Zeibarted from new and gained for a previous owner blowing the engine and showering the engine compartment with oil and also rustproofing it .I was the 2nd owner .The original guys wife ended up as the driver and just after she sold it to me she had a massive crash when a motorcycle landed on her windscreen and went into the cabin .The rider was doing well over 100 and it killed him .She was in crutches and bandages for years and was saved by being in a largish Merc .She would have been killed in the XR3 .After fitting a souped up carb after some trouble the thing went even quicker and I loved it .Sadly it hit about 240,000 and the floor went as prophesied by my Escort part man. The car still looked new but it was all paper thin and a Beemer sang its song to me of thicker panels ,autobox (my legs were playing up at that time ),still bloody quick and still red.As my wife muttered "still a drugs dealer special"
  5. It took Littleschu quite a while to get into the groove in F3 so maybe not a hot shot from day one .
  6. We all lusted for a white Gibson SG custom after that .i gather that the stars were amazed they werent segregated in hotels , restaurants, trains etc.
  7. You dont really believe a Panda will follow a Sat nav .Its italian, get used to it
  8. I heard his base boards wont do EM only 00 and p4 .............
  9. So let me see.Chinese Chips ,made in China with a Russian anti virus .No problemo. Assume everything is hacked ,whacked and spat out thoroughly red bled and shed.

    Hornby Junior

We bought a set of Chinese stuff that fetch about 40 -50 quid .We paint 15 from a guy who got it for his grandkids over from Australia for a while and reported favourably .It contains lots of plastic track ,points and a noisy loco .God what scale the coaches arer ,they look like S and a quite well moulded ,Any way out grandkids ,boy 7 and girl 3 ,played for hours with it and still get it out .Its taught them alot about playing trains without anything plugged in so was money well spent .Not about it at its full price though .We use Gumtree a lot for kids toys .
  12. Was inevitable really ..Hornby are the train set of Britain and should never be ignored .
  13. Of course everyone is assuming a drone sighting ,maybe even visual proof ,but if you want flights stopped without giving the game away to someone then its a fine idea.Go figure suckers ......your part of the game .
  14. Thousands probably in each of hundreds of liveries . You overate how many modellers strive for accuracy and how many just like trains for the sake of enjoying them .
  15. The only sensible car on the planet is a Golf .All the rest are cheap copies.
  16. I use Lais Dcc decoder in all US my brass locos and their stay alive .I find the DCC concepts stay alive works well too.My switching layout uses insulfrog and stay alive solves all problems .I have a brass shay ,notoriuios for pickup problems ,thats stalls easily but a stay alive will probably solve it all .I will fit as large a version as I can get in .
  17. I also did a robin perched on a shovel in the Dart gardener figure ....ahhhh
  18. My wife has diagnosed me with ADHD ,She is normally pretty good at getting such things right and a quick check with my doc suggested she is on the right track .At 71 I am not going to lose sleep about but it explains a lot like being bored ta school unless I was interested ,going off projects half way through and moving on .I was rated intelligent and passed my 11 plus but at about the age of 13 or so it all went wrong .I am a bit annoyed for had I known I would have altered certain aspects of my life .Although I was good at military dioramas etc I would get bored half way through and give up .I was OK on sculpting and painting single figures .In the end I worked at F1 type models and some F1 journalism and also painting brass locos ,and sculpting small figures .I would get bored with big ones and too much detail like hussars kills me .Anatomy is all .I use to keep jobs about three years before quitting and looking for another.Models always kept us in bread and even butter.
  19. I use Code 83 insulfrog as I mainly have US 8 wheelers which normally cause no issue .They are useless for most small short wheelbase locos but even they run OK with say alive so I havnt bothered upgrading .My Hattons Barclay 0-4-0 ran through them at low speed fine oddly ,I have a US based switching layout .
  20. It always pays to just sand the bottom of all peco points flat with some fairly rough wet and dry glued to a flat board .its amazing how not flat they are .my Barclay test creeps perfectly through NMRA code 83 Peco on my American layout but you may have old code 100 which will allow pizza cutters to run through hence the drop .The NMRA guys stuck little plastic shims to the frogs but others will be more informative as I have never had code 100 for 50 -1/2 decades (gawd) so didnt bother
